He’s not wrong but Fox and AM radio have helped make & keep their base rabid. I think a sane Repub doesn’t have as much chance to get through the primaries anymore. Purity at all cost.
How can someone be reasonable and yet still appeal to the “America has been torn apart at the seams” with an anti-Christian dictator at the helm crowd?

Mind the gap. What the GOP is based on is being better than others. YOU are better than others. BUT others are working the system to narrow the gap!! They are abusing the system and catching up to you! YOU ARE better, but soon it won’t matter because CHEATING!! LYING!! STEALING!!WHINING!!

A message of inclusivity is not possible when your baseline is scaring folks that their White Birthright Privilege is disappearing and soon they will be no better than Other People.

But that’s what happens when the Mighty Right Wing Wurlitzer pounds out a 24/7 message of hate for the past 7 years! Hate Radio, Right wing media (now including BS-RNC) and Right Wing Pulpit Pimp Preachers and Priests have stirred up the racist Republican base to a point that the Republican Party has now become so disengaged from reality that it has become Monty Python’s Silly Party and it’s now split between it’s Silly, Very Silly and Asshole factions!

This is perfect. I have a friend who is a police officer and he posts that little Facebook meme that talks about how the EMT, who has a lot of specialized training, makes $15 an hour, so why should people who just flip burgers make the same.
My response is always, why is the question about how service workers can demand a living wage and not about why we pay EMTs so little? I just don’t understand that whole rationale. He has been a police officer for 15 years and he makes enough to live, but to get extras for his daughter and family, he works a lot of over time jobs like security for events. He lives in Ohio and Ohio keeps coming down on the police and fire unions and he keeps voting Republican every time. Makes no sense.

Might be a smart play. Having Perry play the part would probably make for poor cinema. Certainly all those extending Walter Matthau “Rest in Peace” sentiments spoke for naught.
