Discussion: <span class="s1">Federal Appeals Court Rules New NC Voting Laws Intended To Discriminate
Coming the day after such a fantastic Democratic Convention, this really makes for a great weekend! Yay!!
The GOP turns and flees from the tidal wave of voters rushing towards it.
Slowly dismantling Rethuglican voter suppression attempts piece by piece. Hooray!
God must really hate N.C.
We cannot ignore the record evidence that, because of race, the legislature enacted one of the largest restrictions of the franchise in modern North Carolina history.
We therefore reverse the judgment of the district court. We remand the case for entry of an order enjoining the implementation of SL 2013-381’s photo ID requirement and changes to early voting, same-day registration, out-of-precinct voting, and preregistration.
NC will appeal to SCOTUS and be granted an emergency order to allow the law to remain in effect until after the election.
And the pendulum swings … with the GOP under it —
I don’t know how anyone can, with a straight face, make the argument that it is better for 1000s of people not to vote in order to prevent a couple people from voting more than once. That’s the claim they are making with these stupid laws. It’s obvious what their intent is, and the court sees right through them.
At minimum He thinks the people of Asheville should suffer more headaches and flat tires.
Lookin’ at you next, Kobach!
Obvious is obvious…at least some courts recognize this.
Not at all. God just wants to be re-elected.
As if there was every any doubt as to what the purpose of these laws are.
So we are a post-post-racial society yet?
Sucks to be North Carolina these days…
Enlightenment is knocking down the door…
Now we tar heels need to GOTV!
But, but, but all those dead illegals voting for more welfare! (snark)
Done! Enlightenment is now duct-taping them to the chair and stuffing rags in their mouths.
So this goes to the SCOTUS. If it ends up with a 4-4 tie, does that mean that this ruling would stand?
