Discussion: Southern Poverty Law Center Fires Founder, Says It's Probing 'Internal Climate'

Wow. This dropped off the front page faster than any article in some time.

Probably because Josh and TPM realize that Dees is a racist homophobic con man who has swindled credulous chumpy chumps out of millions of dollars.

Clueless? Self-hating? White-ashamed supporters? Yeah. Count me in. I have supported the SPLC since 1981 and been proud and delighted each time they won a court case, or put the Klan out of business, or exposed the bullshit of confederate crybabies, or uncovered a cabal of Nazis.

When a charitable organization starts amassing a huge endowment, I get concerned. I get it - with an endowment, you can pursue your goals without being in a perpetual state of “got to raise money before the till is empty” panic, but when it gets beyond a year or two of operating costs, it gets out of hand. That creates a group that is no longer responsive to the people who funded it, which is dangerous. And I see far too many organizations doing that.

Next thing you know, a collection of ferret fanciers manages to take control of the board, and they decide to use that nice, fat endowment to create shelters worldwide for aging, penniless ferrets. Not what you had in mind when you wrote the check.

It’s still on the front page. But in the complete absence of any new information, what were you expecting? Banner headline at the top saying, We Don’t Know Anything More!!!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Nick is posting BS. Again.

Latest financial statement:

Yes, the SPLC is awash in contributions, especially with the rise of Trumpism, and I do have concerns (as I posted earlier) about an organization amassing that large an endowment. But it spent over $27 million providing legal services last year, not some token amount. And that’s only one aspect of its mission. It’s all laid out in the statement, so there’s no need to rely on the nonsense that Nick posts.

Yes. When he responded with bullshit, that’s what confirmed my suspicions.

Kind of Milo Yiannopoulos-like. Strong similarities in the rhetorical style and subject matter.
