Discussion: SNL's Al Sharpton On Garner Case: First Time 'Everyone Agrees With Me' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #230903

Need to keep up the notoriety on cases such as these.
In any and every forum and fashion.
The only way to effect change is for injustice to have light shined upon it.

Die, SNL. ¨Green Acres¨ has more to say about today’s political world than you do.

My god he nails that impression. Hilarious.

Laughed at first.
Then thought-- hmmm.

All-white contingency of southern rurals spouting all sorts of crazy–
sometimes funny sh^t-- without consequences.

Pretty much sums up the RWNJs we deal with today.

Where, though, is the Mr. Douglas of our time?

Clever, but Keenan Thompson is about 70 pounds too heavy to do a good impersonation of the Rev. Al.

Sharpton has a good and very dry sense of humor, and he finds SNL’s attention to him humorous, but it’s an impression of Sharpton as he was about 20 years ago, and bears little resemblance to Sharpton today.

Agreed. The tempo and volume of speaking is right on the money.

I can’t stand what SNL is today. Its almost too mean-spirited to be funny when it comes to politics. They’re trying too hard to remain relevant by doing really bad satire all too often. It was a far better show when they actually did popular character-driven skits that had a beginning, middle and sometimes an actual end to them, based on everyday people most could identify with in their lives.

I still can’t help thinking of Keenan Thompson as a Nickelodeon Alumni. Maybe its me, but to go from aiming to please children who watch Nickelodeon, to the irreverent and cynically-minded ‘adult humor’ of SNL never seemed like a very strong fit.

Now, don’t get me started on Disney’s Hannah Montana turning into whatever that thing Miley Cyrus has become…

Eh, I must be getting old.

I know where Mr. Haney is – on January 3, 2015, he’ll be the Senate Majority Leader.

It’s exactly how Sharpton is now, and did you miss the part about gaining weight in the beginning, that was very funny. He nailed the impersonation almost as good as Tina Fey did Sarah. Brilliant.
