Oh, FFS.
Focus on the goal, peopleā¦
16 DINOs who need to be primaried in 2020.
Hmm. A small group of partisans who donāt give a damn what the majority thinks resolving to throw a monkey wrench into the system. Sounds positively Republican.
The argument that Democrats need to elect Pelosi as speaker because sheās so good at keeping the caucus in line is an argument supported by its own bootstraps. If sheās not able to corral her caucus into voting for her for speaker, then ipso facto she does not have the much-vaunted ability to keep the caucus in line.
(FWIW, I prefer a united caucus under Pelosi, but I donāt see the imperative to vote for her as being soundly reasoned.)
sigh⦠The Democrats learn nothing from watching the Tea Party revolt and the headaches it gave the Republicans in the House for 8 yearsā¦
āHowever, we also recognize that in this recent election, Democrats ran on and won on a message of change.ā
And if we donāt have a message of change the parties will be EXACTLY THE SAME. Why you people do not see the SELF-EVIDENT TRUTH OF THIS is completely baffling.
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot before the race even beginsā¦
I understand the desire for new blood, but who are these Dems going to vote for?
Figure that out first.
Itās not about voting for anyone, itās about keeping a yucky girl out of a position of power.
That list includes all of the Democrats whoād been on the initial leaked letter except Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH), who is publicly weighing a bid against Pelosi. And it doesnāt include five other Democrats whoāve pledged to vote against Pelosi on the floor but decided not to sign the letter:
Iām assuming that Fudge got her ass handed to her by the CBC who are publicly backing her.
And yes, to losamigosā point, if not Pelosi then who is stepping up to the plate? Or is that just some nonsense that the gang of 16 will work out later?
No one is willing to do it.
Democrats ran on and won on a message of change.
Change from Donald Trump and the Republicans, not from effective Democratic governance. The mind-numbingly stupid talking points some Democrats hand-deliver to the right-wing is confounding. Also, the fact that no one is throwing their name (rather than just āconsideringā or āfloating their nameā) in the hat tells me these 16 Democrats arenāt the brightest the party has to offer.
Progressive aināt supposed to be going in reverse, folksā¦
Problem is, at least a few of those are from red districts that won their seat by publicly opposing Pelosi. If you run a far left candidate against them in a 2020 primary, you probably lose the seat, no matter which candidate wins the primary.
Sounds like sheās basically got this locked up, then. 6% of house democrats, with no obvious leader or front runner opposition candidate, are no real challenge.
Tea Party? You mean that loudmouth bunch of incompetents who took over the entire Party and controlled the narrative on everything from taxes to healthcare to deficits for the past eight years? Yeah, they were so totally irrelevant. Itās a good thing that the mainstream Republicanāts got them under control so that we didnāt end up with a president like Donald Trump! Oh. Never mind. (And they were doing just fine until they cast their lot with Trump. If not for that theyād still own the House.)
That said, this little rebellion is not led by anyone who can call themselves a progressive. Itās Tim Fucking Ryan and Seth āNational Security Stateā Moulton. Fuck those guys!
Itās ironic that the Establishment Democrats who insisted that we had to run DINOs in āRedā districts are now facing a revolt from these assholesā¦
Sixteen Dems Sign Letter Promising To Oppose Pelosi Own Political Death Warrant
FTFY
I really, really, really wish that Moulton (or Ryan) would stop teasing folks and just take the ālumpsā that Trump has reserved for them.
Remember, there were tea partiers that routinely voted against Paul Ryan, whether it was abstaining, voting āpresentā, or picking their own candidate ⦠but there were always just enough votes to make sure Ryan got elected. I suspect weāll see the same thing this time around. Speaker Pelosi may not be what those sixteen or twenty-one want, but itās lots better than Speaker McCarthy.
