Discussion: Six GOP Senators Buck Trump As Competing Shutdown Measures Fail

So it’s the “institutional” Republicans vs. the “should be institutionalized” Republicans.

47 Democrats + Six Republicans=53. By my math, a Democrat didn’t vote on the Democratic bill. Who was it?

Can someone tell me what liberal bill Manchin would vote for?

I do love this.

Normally mild-mannered Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) took Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to task on the Senate floor before the vote, accusing him of “crocodile tears” for saying he cared about government workers when he was a leading cause of the last major government shutdown.

I bet if McConnell said “Enough”, they could get 70 votes minimum to open the government. Resurrect the Gang of Eight bill-this time it will get a vote in the House and pass easily.

I believe Jack Rosen was absent. Not sure why…

I wasn’t really hoping that they were going to “buck” Trump…

I saw somewhere that Joe Manchin voted for the GOP bill. But I assume he voted for the Democratic bill as well.

Supposedly the Problems solvers caucus were going to vote yes to both bills, don’t know if they all did.

I believe that at some point, this will happen. The Rethugs wouldn’t vote for Rump’s wall. This is the second missed paycheck for gov’t. workers. For those people who don’t quite get what all the fuss is about, they will in short order. Anyone who believes the BS about tax refunds going out, is delusional and shouldn’t be listened to.

Federal employees cannot afford the transportation costs to get to work. This stuff mounts up. Fed. employees are standing in line at food banks.
