Discussion: 'Sinema Has Worn The Better Mask': AZ Republic Endorses Dem In Senate Race

Wow! All of these reliably right-wing editorial boards across the country are endorsing Dems. Who’d’ve thunk?

I’m finding it somewhat startling…

They didn’t give her a full throated endorsement. More like a “lesser of two evils” endorsement…

“Worn the better mask…”? I guess they don’t want to lose their entire readership, right?

I’ll happily take the endorsement though, as shallow as it is.

And then there’s the Chicago Tribune, endorsing the nomination of Bart O’Kavanaugh; and the elction of Brucey Rauner, and Erika Harold…

The Tribune was Fox decades before Fox.

And still is…

Sad!

Perhaps they realize the endorsement would carry more weight with the right-wing if it was presented that way?

The most recent detailed poll of AZ was a few days ago in which Sinema leads by 6 to 8 depending on the turnout model. The key is she leads in Maricopa County by a clear margin. She also is hitting in the mid-40s among white voters. I think she’s in good shape.

Gov. Ducey will appoint McSalley to the senate when Kyl steps aside. So the lunatic fringe in my State will continue to have representation that encourages the worst angels of our nature.

When the Houston Chronicle can drop its former support for Rafael from six years ago and trash him as they did so, and then go wholeheartedly for Beto, nothing should surprise any more.

I’m prepared to be “surprised” by Democratic losses in “contested” states.

Way back when, Bill Clinton asked some Rethugliklan putz, “Why do you guys have to fight so dirty?”

“It’s the only way we can win.”

Hi ho. A dog barked somewhere. And so it goes.

The only time anyone cares who a newspaper endorses is when they endorse the candidate that you were going to vote for anyway,

So the AZ Repugnant editorial board’s chief concern is civility in campaign ads?

One of these candidates has a proven track record as a bipartisan problem-solver. The other has pledged 100% loyalty to Donald Trump and would vote to diminish reproductive rights, for more tax cuts for those who need them least, and to loot Social Security and Medicare funds. I think those issues are far more important than the transient issue of the uncivil tone of a campaign.

The Repugnant editorial board fell all over itself to pronounce Trump “finally presidential” in early Feb. 2017 when he managed to deliver a scripted address to Congress without once making an ass of himself. So that tells you all you need to know about their judgment.
