Discussion: Sinclair Says Ex-Trump Aide Commentary Does 'Not Reflect' Company Views

We forced every station to air right wing propaganda, but it’s not who we are…

Just a suggestion Sinclair exes. if Boris’ commentaries do not reflect your company’s views then don’t make them “must run” pieces, and then you could also air an opposing view. Wouldn’t life be more sane if you used some common sense?

Hey we only provide the megaphone, we don’t control what the idiot behind it says…wink wink…

I wonder if the House can exert any pressure on the FCC in cases like this?

WHY if this was marked a MUST RUN piece to the affiliates are they now claiming it does not reflect company views.

Sinclair should explain this anomaly

We need Congress to legislate the Fairness Doctrine, which was eliminated under Reagan. And the Fairness Doctrine should apply to all broadcast media, including cable, and Facebook, etc. There just might be bipartisan support for this, given the polarization that threatens our democracy.

Can you just imagine the hyperbolic conniptions that would occur if a liberal media executive made an entire network air something comparable from the left? (It’s a fictional situation because there is nothing on the left that is comparable to this kind of dishonesty from the right -not eve close)

We also offer our stations reporting from the Beltway and beyond that are not partisan or bias in any way.

I wonder why Sinclair can’t hire people who can write English.

But using common sense would mean abandoning all their conservatard, freakazoid, Gilded-Age-billionaire “values.”

They know exactly what they’re doing, and don’t care that everybody knows they are motherfucking liars.

It’s a reflection of the Trumpianspeak that we live in.

Were there any repercussions for journalists who refused to air this? Last time this happened I remember the journalists saying they would be fired and have to pay a fine to Sinclair and wouldn’t be able to work in journalism for x years. Is this still true because that seems like that would indicate they aggressively agree with these views.

Stupid question but if they don’t represent the company why can’t Boris say this himself in a pre-taped segment? Seems dishonest to make reporters read a commentary that isn’t their own.

The whole thing is dishonest from the lie about the tear gas, to making it look like it was the reporters opinions, to lying that this isn’t their view. How is this real life?

The good news - the backlash must have been incredible for the right-wing owners to backpedal over this commentary.

They’re right-wingers, but right-wingers that love to make money - and the public response must have put a good scare into them. They immediately went into “this isn’t us” mode - bypassing the usual “we value differing opinions” or “we thought he had some thought-provoking points” defenses.

They must have realized that there is life outside the Trumpsphere.

Well, that’s funny. Because good ol’ Boris’s commentary was on your ‘must run’ list for your stations. Lying liars are going to lie I guess.
