Discussion: Shutdown's End Nowhere In Sight: Trump Not Even Talking To Top Dems

8 more days and the Democrats resume majority in the House of Congress. Most of America eagerly await this.
The current status is untenable if our nation is to survive l’affair trump.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has not yet said whether he’d let such a bill to the floor for a vote.

Seems to me that if the House passes a spending bill and McConnell refuses to bring it to the Senate floor for a vote then it is the GOP that is keeping the government shut down. Wonder how Fox, et al, will spin that one.

I don’t remember the “take your rattle and go back to your crib” chapter from The Art of the Deal. Maybe they added that in a second edition.

Instead of negotiating with his shadow, he should be calling Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter begging them to give him a break when he folds.

I’ve read that they’ve only spent 6% of the money allocated for border security. Perhaps the bill should address that. If it is true (and I have no idea if it is), then it should become part of the conversation.

Probably freaking out and going into a cocoon.

Fox news almost called Sarah out on Donald caving on Shira and then just let her go.

Why would he talk to them? In 8 days they’ll be screaming in the orange fucks ear till he goes deaf.

Leave it shut down longer. Let Trump deal with his staff.

I would love to see the new Congress vote to fund the (silly) wall, but with a proviso; It must be fully funded for construction, maintenance and operations for the lifetime of the project, a la the USPS pension funding.

Say, repeal the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to provide the funding.

I’ve refrained from suggesting it (yes, I realize others have and are), but if this continues, it’s grounds for invoking the 25th. If a POTUS pointedly refuses to even talk with Congress amidst a government shutdown, that person is definitionally unfit to continue as POTUS. And that has nothing to do with policy, ideology, or beliefs.

He’s gotta sulk since they dunked all Over him on live TV. (And thats the generous interpretation, which avoids terms like “self-own” and “crapped-the-bed” )

It is becoming increasingly obvious that this manufactured crisis is about ratings… not results.

Perhaps Nancy can get the committee that oversees the FCC to subpoena the producers and show runners at fox news and explore just how overt and conniving they actually are when it comes to manipulating our Dotard into doing things that just happen to be good for their corporate bottom line.

If I am right… watch for the right wing outrage factory to be dialed up for a few more weeks… sweeps week is coming up in the first week of February.

Trump is done. Most of what he has done can (and will) be undone. We will, rightfully, have to earn back the respect we have squandered by allowing this disgrace to continue. Trump is not the end of the USA, he is not the end of constitutional governance or the rule of law. He proved all those things can take a beating and still come through in the end.

It’s true. Schumer brought that up in “the meeting”. Note that tRump was offered a deal for $25B in funding for 2018 in return for strong DACA/Dreamer protections - he refused to take it. So what he got was $1.6B - and only spent 6% of that.

What do the Dems expect … when they refuse to bring gold, frankincense and myrrh to an oval office meeting?
