Discussion for article #237427
Sucks when there is video to prove you are executing people and lie to cover your hate filled fucking executioners, eh?
Officers were “shell-shocked”? Usually that adjective is reserved for people who’ve actually been shot at rather than the people doing the shooting. Sorry, gunhappy shoot-first-ask-questions-later police and your FBI agent enabler, I’m not buying your victim narrative.
Loehmann's attorney, Henry Hilow, said he has not had a chance to read the investigative file and said the officer committed no wrongdoing.
"The events were a tragedy, but there was no crime committed," he said.
That’s the neat thing about being an attorney. You can lie with impunity.
I hate AP articles. I really hate what they’ve become. The first paragraph…Why preface the article with this cleverly injected tidbit for the article?:
CLEVELAND (AP) — Hours before a 12-year-old boy was fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer, the friend who had loaned Tamir Rice a pellet gun warned him to be careful because it looked real.
No one is quoted. No one is identified having said this, and even if he/she had…what fucking purpose is it to put that at the top of the article to prejudice the reader before any straightforward facts are offered in this article? Are they suggesting 12 year old Tamir should have known better, or that he was responsible for his own death because someone supposedly warned him how his toy gun looked? WTF. I almost can’t read beyond that. How long did these cops wait to come out with anything on this investigation??? That should have been the first goshdamn paragraph of this article. What took them so long…not what excuse did they give. This is bullshit.
Would you prefer “stunned”? It happens to all manner of people in all manner of stressful situations.
Writing instructors may call it “the hook”.
Loehman’s defense: “who Are you going to believe–me or your lying eyes?”
How exactly did these two cops make the situation any better, the kid had been sitting there quite awhile and hadn’t threatened anyone or anything and didn’t make any moves on the cops. Just like the dickhead at the pool party, they rolled up and overreacted in an instant.
Cops don’t have bullhorns any more? They don’t do warning shots or shoot to disable, its always a shoot to kill and have no other side of the story to be told.
Cops don’t actually mean for you to put your hands up, that is just a ruse to distract you whilst they take deadly aim. They are lying anyways and everyone that isn’t a knee jerk cop defender knows it.
The truly inexplicable thing about this case for me actually comes down to what in the hell was going through the mind of the officer at the wheel of the cruiser. From the video it seemed to go something like “Oh hey there he is, let me pull up and stop so that my partner and I are in his direct line of fire.”
The officer who drew and fired didn’t seem to realize how vulnerable he was until he opened the door and found himself dangerously exposed, the open squad car door not simply providing zero cover but actually obstructing his firing position.
A 911 caller had also said the gun might be a fake and the man could be a juvenile, but that information was never relayed to the officers.
Just a complete balls-up by the authorities .
Police officers in Cleveland and elsewhere can learn from the “buzzing” of a NATO ship fleet in the Baltic Sea earlier this week, by a Russian military jet. There is little doubt that the group “felt threatened,” but did not shoot down the offending MIg. Who knows what such a reaction might have led to?
So typical of “the liberal media”…
The “liberal media” has become so afraid of irrelevance that it has to twist the story around to get the uneducated public to read their trash…what they (the media) like to call “reporting the news”…
9/11 changed everything…every problem, to a cop, looks like a terrorist…and every terrorist deserves a bullet.
Of course, I sometimes overgeneralize…
It was obvious from the video there was no warning. They drove up on that kid and gunned him down in an instant. This kid’s murder is what should have caused demonstrations. His death was nothing like Michael Brown.
F***. Based on this article alone, they’re going to get away with murder and just address future “training.”
How did you arrive at that conclusion from this article, or any other one. They are saying here there is no evidence that what the cop said happened actually happened. Not sure how that leads to acquittal?
I really don’t know why the NRA isn’t all over this cop. Anyone that shoots a kid for playing with a play gun is jinxing their future sales.
Good point. The argument might have even worked if it was a kid instead of a teenager. Someone should look into how they treat their kids at home. Child abuse seems to be an epidemic among these conservative, God fearing types.
