Discussion: Sheriff: Shooting Reported At Texas Air Force Base

It’s a good thing everybody and their mother in Texas is strapped and this kind of thing could never happen.

Oh, wait.

To no-one’s surprise, another shooting happening at a gun-free location.

They should allow everyone including E3s to carry while on a military base. After all they are all well trained and drilled with gun safety.

Besides allowing our service men and women to defend themselves against terrorists and assorted crazies, there will be some other advantages

a) Hazing and harassment will drop to zero
b) Sergeants will become much more polite
c) Officers will realize that they are mere mortals and behave as such.

Yes, because someone with a gun might have been standing right beside the perp when he pulled his weapon, fired, and then took his own life.
Sometimes a teacher excuses themselves from the classroom for a sudden bathroom need or having been called briefly out of class. I guess Mrs. Ketchum’s third grade students should be locked and loaded in the event they’re left to fend for themselves when a gunman bolts through the door and she’s not there to level her AK-15 at him and take him out.

Right. Clearly the problem is not merely with gun-free locations, but with gun-optional locations as well. Everyone should be carrying with a round chambered and the safety off at all times, lest they be unable to respond quickly enough to a threat.

We will also have to redesign common tools so they don’t interfere with gun use. In classrooms, for instance, handguns will be equipped with chalk/marker/scissor holders.

Military Bases are gun-free zones. Write your congresscritter to pass a law that allows our beloved servicemen to be armed while on base and not be sitting ducks when the loons show up.

The only reason Military Bases are gun-free is because top brass are afraid of guns. They want to keep treating enlisted men like dogs and deny them their freedoms.

Texas allows open carry of weapons into the psychiatric wards of state mental hospitals. Doctors and nurses protested that the presence and sight of weapons was not advisable due to the mental condition of many patients being especially ill-suited to open carry of weapons in their direct physical proximity. Their concerns were dismissed.

Whiners! They should just carry a gun themselves and waste any crazy that gets close to their guns.

PD Don’t kill too many or you’ll find yourself out of work.

I hope your comment was tongue-in-cheek but, if not, to educate, guns are restricted to MPs on duty with carefully laid out movements simply because of the numerous “accidental” discharges leading to wounded or dead personnel which had quite a bit of the base off the duty roster due to injuries.

The only time I saw open carry was in forward fire bases in SE Asia.

And of course the children will need to be reminded not to run with a loaded Glock.

Should members of the U.S. military be accorded the same set of freedoms, mirror images, of those in the civilian world? If not, what freedoms do civilians enjoy that are denied to service members but should be restored to them? I can quit my job anytime I want without penalty. A service member can’t. Is that service member being denied this freedom because their superiors want to treat them like dogs?

Great! Everybody else gets to be slaughtered by the muslim terrorist while MP comes back from his coffee break.

So you want the people protecting you against commies and terrorist to have less freedoms?

How about this for new slogan

Hey you high school graduate! Serve your country, enroll in the Army, loose your Constitutional rights!

Signing away your constitutional rights is only for when you go to work for a private employer.

Ah so an airman shot his commanding officer. I believe that is the main reason they don’t want guns on bases. Or any other workplace for that matter.

As an aside why do they need K9s in the airforce?

There’s no evidence that anyone, anywhere, at any time, has planned a shooting based upon whether the location permitted the carrying of guns.

You’ve been suckered into repeating yet another unfounded NRA talking point.

Why can’t anyone correctly spell the word “lose?”

So you are in favor of members of the military being able to quit their posts with no consequences? You know, matching my civilian freedom to do so?
