Discussion: Sheriff: Rural Texas Teen Kills Mom, 2 Neighbors, Then Himself

Discussion for article #245696

:expressionless:

When mass shootings become commonplaceā€¦{{{{{{{{{{sigh}}}}}}}}}}

See? No home invaders [translation: Ni (CLANG!)] shot them. More guns, less crime!..Until Dylan gets back from the night shift at a Red Robin.

Hey, where was Eddie Eagle?

Given that this was Texas, my hunch is that everyone who was killed owned a gun, even the dog.

I guess this canā€™t go into my gun carelessness file. Dylan hit what he was aiming at. One thing does puzzle me. How many guns was the dog packing?

Just another day in Nowhere, TX.

America is drowing in guns deaths but heaven forbid we have any meaningful discussion on gun controlā€¦

Ugh. So sad, so unnecessary. Why canā€™t we be like normal countries?

He probably was worried what would happen to the dog - and Iā€™m serious about that.

The horrible thing is that in America, we think of guns as a way to settle disputes, often the first option. It should be the unthinkable option.

Trump: No need to jump to conclusions. This is likely bunch of illegals from Mexico who got hold of guns and killed a happy white family.

It seems as though the gun has become the ā€œgo toā€ cure for whatever ails ya ā€”

Then you shouldnā€™t be able to get one without a prescription ā€”

I can pretty much guarantee those people, in that part of rural Texas, owned their own guns. Why didnā€™t those guns protect them from this ā€˜bad guyā€™?

Because they never do.

I guess the boy wasnā€™t thrilled about the way Mom was paying the rent.

Trust me. There is no Red Robin or anything like it within 80 miles of Uvalde, A Dairy Queen or a Subway maybe.A whataburger if they are lucky.

I would have got murderous/suicidal if I had been living there when I was young.

Sheriff said: ā€œYouā€™re looking at farm- and ranchland. You could get into a dangerous situation.ā€

Thought these people were the salt of the earth. You know, not NY values.

Iā€™m not making light of the situation, just annoyed at the hypocrisyā€¦

Actually my heart hurts for a 19 year old boy, yes boy, who is in so much despair that he canā€™t go on livingā€¦

Well obviously, they didnā€™t own enough of them.

(Scene: NRA spokespersonā€™s internal dialog)

ā€œIā€™m disgusted by people scoring political points on such a senseless tragedy.ā€

Pretty good, but I used that just yesterday.

ā€œIt is too soon; letā€™s be respectful and honor the dead.ā€

Hmm, good, but not quite what I want.

ā€œThe tree of liberty must be watered from time to time by the blood of tyrants.ā€

Whoops, that isnā€™t the one Iā€™m looking for.

ā€œThis is not a mass shooting; it is a one-off incident that occurred because of someone with mental health issues.ā€

Yeah, letā€™s go with that one.

Bunch of self-important RW Oathkeeper-type LEOs swarming a small rural cabin and a mobile home with SWAT reinforcements!? What a blatant waste of public money that would have been so much better spent on rural clinics, schools, and libraries.

After this wasteful exploit, Iā€™m betting TXā€™s obviously over-staffed LEOs (aka welfare queens) ask DOJ for tanks and APCs to be better prepared for the next generation of emerging possible farm or ranch land public safety crises.

Really, we are past ā€œGun Controlā€ what we need now is disarmament.
