Discussion: Sheriff: 'Multiple Fatalities' In Shooting In Orlando Industrial Area

Yeah. Happens all the time.

I occasionally peruse Fox News so I know what garbage my in laws are ingesting, and found this gem in their article:

ā€œThis violence is frustrating. The only way we have a fighting chance is to ask the public to report any suspicious activity,ā€ [Sheriff] Demings said.

The man was known to authorities with a criminal history and has had a violent workplace incident in the past. This is the kind of guy who can’t get a gun in most countries. It’s hard to kill 5 people without a gun.

This was an act of terrorism brought to you by the NRA and other ammosexuals.

ā€œThe sheriff says the shooting is not believed to have any link to terrorism.ā€

Every time the media includes a line like this in its coverage of a tragedy, the terrorists are winning.

Well, I’m certainly not going there any time soon. Florida and North Carolina are both on my do-not-go lists.

Technically it was 6 people shot and killed since he shot himself.

…and in related news, Rep Clay Higgins Ā® of Louisianna could be heard responding, ā€œWe need to hunt down former employees in Florida and kill them all!ā€

Thank you for responding.

If only guns weren’t banned in Florida.

I’ve long joked about – longer than the stupid ā€œborder wallā€ has been seriosly talked about – walling off the entire old condederacy plus Kentucky and Missouri from about 50 miles south of the I-70 corridor. There are a lot of outstate idiots in that swath of land, but we can deal with them. Given a proper education and an alternative to hate-radio, they could come back around. in a generation or two.

Question of the day: In which cases of mass aggression do GOP reps not call for holy war against Muslims and immigrants?

Oh now, that makes me feel much safer.

You have to hand it to American efficiency, though. This one guy with a gun picked off people… just… like… that.

In England, it took a horde of thugs running down the street wielding knives.

Cut it off and let it sink into the Caribbean. All Alabama and Georgia are doing is keeping it afloat.

What do you mean? The shooting itself arguably WAS terrorism. Saying shit like ā€œlink to terrorismā€ implies that the only thing that qualifies or can qualify as terrorism is when Muslims do it. As if terrorism itself is a monolithic thing that can be isolated and defined by whatever stereotype we attach to it…and we all know what stereotype is attached to it. It’s not though. It’s universal. It’s a method, not a particular definable thing or a group or ideology. It is procedure, not substance.

ā€œIn 2014, he was accused of battering another employee at the business. Deputies investigated but charges were never filed.
He’s faced charges over the years stemming back to 1995 on larceny, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and several marijuana-possession charges.ā€

Well, I guess 5 people would have been alive right now if he had been black.

ā€œHe told me he was broke and that’d he had spent every penny partying,ā€ he said.
Well then, he was sensible about budgeting his money. Could have sold his fishing boat but obviously was pretty unstable. No gun permit – with his mental problems how would he legally buy a gun.

We have one huge fucked up system. A lot of stupids which the NRA has enabled…

Yeah, only the people he was shooting at were terrified.

Jeez, does the word terrorism mean, ā€œperped by a Muslim,ā€ now? What about ā€œterror?ā€ ā€œTerrorize?ā€ Does this mean my rat terrier is a Muslim? Should I fear her?

Marijuana charges? Seriously? He was a pot-head? Must’ve run out!
