Shep Smith has always been the only real journalist fox news hasā¦
He has been on the correct side of most social issues (gay marriage, etc.), and is not a war hawk either.
Until his ratings drop. Like any other talking head. CNN or MSNBC would love to have him, but FOX has the big cash.
Ummm, ratings. If they fire him, he gets hired by CNN and his viewers go there. Itās about the ratings. Always.
$$$$$, plus he pretty much gets to do as he pleases. Pretty good gig he has.
They must be paying Shep Smith a lot of money at Fox News. Thatās the only explanation I can think of for why he allows himself to be associated with the babbling morons he works with. If he had any dignity, Smith would resign.

What viewers? He tells the truth to people who watch Fox. They hate that.
Does his 4 minutes of sane reporting counter the 23 hours, 56 minutes of bat-shit crazy, intentional hysterical and panic coverage that is the rest of Fox?
We have nothing to report except fear itself.

You have to wonder how Shep Smith keeps his job at Fox News Channel, given Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdochās well known penchant for intolerance of āOff Messageā theater. I will not call it reporting because I do not believe that ANYONE at Faux News reports the truth on anything that is remotely newsworthy, including, unfortunately, Shep Smith. He has occasional flashes of responsibility and regret where he jumps into the sewer of professional journalism (from the Ailes/Murdoch perspective), but is never consistent with reporting truth.
I admire Shepās courting of professionally responsible journalism. I just wish he would do more of it. But that would, of course, lead to his eventual termination by Fox News.
