Discussion: Sessions To Testify On Tuesday Before Senate Intel Committee

Interesting. He’s repeatedly committed felonies in order to cover up these meetings with Russians. And he’s not the only one. Interesting interesting interesting.

Just remembered a friend’s mom’s comment about the Nixon White House at roughly the same point in the unraveling back then—“Yeah, right, the madam’s a virgin.”

Several other news sources have said (as of late last night) that Sessions has cancelled and will not testify. I think that, at the time of the taping of some of the Sunday shows, he was still scheduled to appear. I read that he will send Rosenstein (the same guy who stonewalled many of the questions last week) to testify in his place. Even more nteresting, no?

He cancelled his appearance before the Senate Appropriations Committee where he was due to lay out his requests for DoJ’s budget; Rosenstein will appear in his place.

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions is in for sharp questioning by senators Tuesday …"

If he shows, let’s hope he’s as unwittingly forthcoming as he was with Franken.

I hope Kamala Harris comes up with a long series of short answer, non-fillibusterable, questions for Sessions. It would be so amusing if the questions of a woman-of-color brought down the old racist.

Late last night, CNN, Rawstory and ThinkProgress all reported that Sessions had cancelled. Now, CNN is back to saying that Sessions will testify, probably in a closed session. What’s the truth here?

Sessions will lie in any room, he’s not fussy.

I’m reading closed. No way this is public.

Me too - but I still can’t explain the stories last night (reputable sources) saying he wouldn’t testify at all. Either the news sources just plain got it wrong or Sessions put out a trial balloon. Edited to add: Just heard an explanation on MSNBC. Sessions was originally scheduled to testify about more routine DOJ budget issues. By law, that had to be an open session. He doesn’t want to testify in public, so he will have his deputy do the public hearing but agreed to appear in a closed session where the range of questions will be broader and deeper.

Harris is my senator, and I was very impressed with how she handled herself at the hearings, particularly the second. But because of her lack of seniority in the senate, she’ll get the chance to question only late in the day as happened these two times. With any luck, the other Dems will have asked pointed questions. At the point she gets her chance to question, time will be running out and burn out will have set in.

Harris: If you need a moment to adjust your robe, that’s fine Senator, but we’d appreciate it you would remove the hood.

Oh, I don’t think it matters a bit even if nobody is paying attention. If she catches him in a lie, it will all be on the record. She is a really smart one, she is. And the fun thing about that is that all the racists and misogynists will underestimate her, to their peril. Pass the popcorn.

Harris has been a presence in California for some years, always interesting to watch, no doubt a long career ahead of her.

Sessions does not look like the kind that will go willingly and/or quietly. He pizzed away a safe Senate career for what? Being another abused Trump Bitch?

If he flips… there will not be enough popcorn in the whole world.

The hateful little weasel is trapped. It must really hurt that it was Al Franken that caught him out and triggered the recusal. And if only there is justice in the universe it will be Kamala Harris that nails his hide to the barn door. Oh please please please

Wanna bet? He has pulled out of most testimony at the last minute. Besides, I thought he had recused himself from the truth until further notice.
Oh, silly me! You don’t need the truth when you testify to Congress. You just need to have the most members of your “party” on the committee before which you want to lie-er-testify.
If the Intel committee wants to keep up its ratings, they should ask Comey to come back and read the DC white pages into the Congressional Record. That will get more people watching than having a jackass like Sessions show up and displace all the air in the hearing room with manure.

Yeah, I posted those conflicting pieces of info in another thread. Congressional hearing schedule shouldn’t be something that confuses the press. Then again, it’s this administration and it’s Jefferson Beauregard Sessions.
