Discussion: Sessions: ‘Somebody Needs To Stand Up And Say No’ To 'Radical' California

It’s hard to tell if he is standing up.

I keep thinking that there’s pretty much no way all of this doesn’t end in CA and NY seceding (and then bringing all of the West Coast and most of the Northeast with them, respectively).

“Somebody needs to stand up and say no, you’ve gone too far,”

What is it with these republicans? They are totally and completely oblivious to irony! If there were ever anyone who needs to be told "no, you’ve gone too far,” it’s the elf.

California loves strong borders.

We use them to keep Alabama out.

States rights apply to good Confederate states only.

As a native Californian, I’ve thought somebody has needed to say “No” to Alabama on a whole host of topics, for about 153 years.

“However, states who gerrymander to remove citizen representation, or put in place dubious voter restriction practices that violate constitutional rights are absolutely safe from my formidable legal mind.”

Well, that rules out Trumpp.

He would have considered getting involved if Sessions called for somebody to sit in a golf cart and say “no.”

There is no mechanism for states to secede. It’'s one country and secession is treason.

Furthermore, the push for California to secede is a Putin run Russian bot project. He’d love to break up the US.

The right wing’s constant hysterical hate-mongering on California is a propaganda war against everything that makes America American.

Wait a second, aren’t these guys all pro State’s rights? Oh that’s right, only when it comes to abortion and guns.

“The Federal Government may neither issue directives requiring the States to address particular problems, nor command the States’ officers, or those of their political subdivisions, to administer or enforce a federal regulatory program. It matters not whether policymaking is involved, and no case by case weighing of the burdens or benefits is necessary; such commands are fundamentally incompatible with our constitutional system of dual sovereignty.” - Justice Antonin Scalia in Printz v. United States, 521 U.S. 898 (1997)

@jenbieds Printz was about compulsory background checks under the Brady Bill

Any word on when somebody will be standing up to ignorantly radical Alabama? No…?

I’m a bit slow, what’s your point?

Just more stupid, but at least it is one more day closer to Friday.
