liddle fucker
Sounds like a great way to bring out the young people and liberals out to vote
Thanks Sessions
But states rights!? States rights!?
Oh, that’s only in support of racial discrimination. I keep forgetting this.
It’s time to eliminate this administration and unseat every judge they installed.
Well, finally! Thanks Sessions - you’ve just ensured that the next BLUE Congress removes Marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3. Couldn’t have done it without you, asshole.
Well, color me shocked and surprised.
Not.
It is my understanding that it is basically impossible to empanel a jury in states like Colo or Calif that is willing to return a conviction for MJ. So this is likely meaningless because prosecutors aren’t going to waste their time when they know jury nullification is highly likely.
Right there with you!! Very much hoping the “BLUE Congress” has legislative mechanisms in place to do just that.
Just think of the cannabis-infused cookies Ku Klux Keebler could make…
That’ll be popular (he said sardonically).
Because Prohibition worked out so well with alcohol…Sessions is a vile, unreconstructed (pun intended) bigot who thinks we should go back to the good old days of the '50s…the 1850s. Good luck, little man, you are going to be out of a job soon.
Federal judges may be removed by impeachment only—for cause.
There is no legislative mechanism for removing them.
and here’s a timely reminder
Consider that a President Trump wouldn’t just be on your TV making “fantastic” speeches, “believe me.” He would be appointing the next Attorney General, the nation’s top cop, and the rumors are that it will be New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Do you need a refresher on exactly how shitty Christie would be for legalization? On the campaign trail, he told us to smoke up while we can in Colorado, because he would be shutting it all down and enforcing federal drug laws.
including drug traffickers that have taken advantage of lax marijuana laws to hide in plain sight, illegally growing and shipping the drug across state lines, where it can sell for much more.
If this problem even exists in the first place - trusting assertions from right-wing drug warriors is like trusting a pack of rabid dogs - the solution is obvious. Legalize it everywhere, and there won’t be any more marijuana drug traffickers.
Is there a group, committee or Judicial Association that administers that process? IOW, how does impeachment begin?
Sorry about the continual legal queries, but you seem to know of what you speak.
Federal judges are impeached by the House of Representatives and tried by the Senate, just like all US civil officers, including the president and the vice president.
This move could easily result in congress taking action to deal with the issue. I have a hunch a large number of congressmen and women were really happy with the Obama approach. They could be tough without actually taking a position that would rile up locals.
It is time we ended the war on drugs and replaced it with a real treatment approach.
Getting a lot of convictions isn’t really the goal. The intent is to shut down legal marijuana businesses by putting the threat of legal proceedings - including confiscation, which doesn’t require conviction - over everything. There are already a lot of impediments, this will put a lot more.
The pot business has since become a sophisticated, multimillion-dollar industry that helps fund schools, educational programs and law enforcement.
Millions? Try BILLION$. $6.7 BILLION in 2016! The legal cannabis industry may eclipse the NFL’s revenue by 2020. Sessions will run into pressure from CEOs and states that receive millions in needed tax revenue from legal cannabis. Congress must re-schedule pot from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2. Soon. The bi-partisan Cannabis Caucus had better get busy.
The legalization approach allows the states to collect taxes and regulate the industry. Sessions’ approach costs the government money and doesn’t protect the consumers. It hasn’t worked since the movie “Reefer Madness” back in the 1940s. What makes Sessions think it is going to work now.
