Absolutely right on this issue.
“valued the sanctity of the ballot.”
Does that even need a comment?
Bangladesh isn’t part of the latest travel ban. In fact, none of the attacks this year have been committed by people who would have been barred by Trump’s moronic policies. It’s security theater, much like the TSA conservatives/libertarians are always raging about.
Sessions also said the immigration caseload has tripled since fiscal 2009, but that “under President Trump, we have already taken steps to bring down the backlog in cases.” He also said border crossings by undocumented immigrants are now at their lowest level in 45 years, but vowed “that number can be zero.”
And if it’s zero, then what are you going to use as a target for people to fear? Do we then we go after the legal immigrants that are already here? Do we go after immigrants that have since become US Citizens? Surely, as our AG, you’ve planned for the safety of America’s future. What is that plan?
Sessions says border crossings are at the lowest in 45 year. All hail Donald Trump…sure. Of course he doesn’t source it for us…or you see the below on the DHS Website. Just like the stock market…and unemployment. These things were already happening. Border apprehensions were less than half under Obama, compared to the previous 8 years.
"While the decline from the fiscal years of 2016 to 2017 was significant, agency statistics show that during the Obama administration, apprehensions dropped sharply as well.
In 2010, the year-to-year difference was nearly 27 percent, and in 2014, the number of immigrants apprehended by Border Patrol agents dropped nearly one-third."
Is it still too soon to talk about the failure of existing gun policies?
I thought Sessions was going to introduce his
new Blue Ribbon Security Task Force today.
Maybe next week.
So what policy is failing when a white man can shoot 500 people in a matter of minutes? How stark are those terms?
I wonder if they haven’t just shifted CBP/ICE resources from actually policing the border to terrorizing immigrant communities in cities, at courthouses, etc. That way they’d get to boast of a huge reduction in border crossings (look! Our policies are deterring immigrants from even trying to get in!) while, well, actually just making immigration enforcement less effective at deterring crime and more cruel and capricious (thereby undermining the rule of law and rewarding the worst elements of what was already a rogue and profoundly racist agency before Trump got there).
Sessions as AG shows attack on our Constitution in “Starkest Terms”.
No, it shows the problem of homegrown reactionary extremism in response to homegrown racist extremism.
The kid was radicalized WHILE HERE. To claim this highlights any problem with immigration, you have to either show he came here with the extremist beliefs and intent in the first place AND/OR that there is something inherent about people coming from that place that they’re predisposed to it AND/OR do a bang up job mixing those two concepts by shoving them through the racist, white nationalist, alt-right irrationality filter.
I’d say the Las Vegas shooting vastly outweighs and shows the abject failure of our gun polices and laws. Given that people actually died by the hundreds in that attack (an none in the NYC Port Authority attack) I’d say that only underscores the point.
Open ass, insert smoke.
The only immigration failure I see was letting Session’s and trumps ancestors into the country.
Yes:
Roy Beck, president of NumbersUSA, which organizes grass-roots opposition to pro-immigration measures, said he recognized a kindred spirit in Sessions when he first visited him in his Senate office in the 1990s.
“You’re always looking for the people who understand that legal immigration has to be kept down,” Beck said, adding that Sessions immediately agreed with Numbers’ argument that more immigrants hurt American workers.
“He’s kept that flame alive. We now have the chief cheerleader for [that viewpoint] as attorney general.”

Come up with the snarkiest, nastiest, most absurd caricature of this administration you can conjure up: that’s who they are.
If they are serious, Trump should show good faith and deport Melania. Living with ‘the Donnie’ has to be radicalizing to the extreme…
Trump and Sessions shows an election failure in the starkets terms.
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday that an attack on the New York City subway system showed in the “starkest terms” that the failures of the U.S. immigration system are a national security issue.
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions demonstrated in the “starkest terms” with his election as a Senator to the US Congress that the educational system in the State of Alabama is a national security issue.
Vs shooter in Las Vegas showing failure of no gun restrictions?
