There’s nothing wrong with making sure the right people vote.
there is something wrong with making it more difficult for eligible people to vote
Isn’t this grounds for dismissal?
When the DOJ moves 180 degrees between venues, the upper court should slap them down for it and dismiss the case altogether, WITH PREJUDICE.
TRUMP’S FASCIST
BIG GOVERNEMENT
is also meddling in STATES Election process.
Our STATE’S business is NONE of your BUSINES
TRUMP.
Zombie George Wallace channeled via Jess Sessions.
Absolutely! That’s why Democrats should body slam any known Republican when they are seen lurking around polling places. Only Democrats are the “right people to vote”. Just simple logic, right?
This is the stuff that really matters, and it gets 5 comments whereas any Trump twitter binge automatically gets over 200. I am becoming very worried for 2018.
The Constitution authorizes the states to set the time, place and manner of holding elections but also authorizes Congress to make or alter voting regulations. When a state implements a policy designed to remove from its rolls a targeted group of eligible voters it is incumbent on the federal government to intervene. The problem in Ohio is not federal intervention, it is the fact that the federal government switched its position from protecting voting rights under the Obama administration to supporting voter suppression under the DT maladministration.
No surprises here…
There’s nothing wrong with making sure the right people vote.
Sessions: There’s nothing wrong with making sure only white people vote.
I guess the ever so fair Governor of Ohio is OK with this. You know…the centrist…good guy of the GOP.
As Justin Levitt, a constitutional law professor at Loyola Law School and voting rights expert, noted, it’s extremely unusual for the DOJ to switch positions in a case after already weighing in at the appellate level.
Nothing about this so-called administration is “unusual,” other than the continuing effort to lower the bar to the center of the Earth. As unqualified and unfit for office as Trump is, those he has installed in the Cabinet and the rest of the government (with the willing acquiescence of the GOP majority in the Senate) are worse. My lone hope is that he has not completely corrupted the judiciary, following in the footsteps of his last Republican predecessor. We are indeed watching a “slow-motion coup” unfold in this country. Hopefully, there are enough sensible people left to fight this corruption and malfeasance.
Hate to break it to you. but 2018 will result in a smaller R majority in the House and a larger one in the Senate…
The Republic is dead…
Edit: Forgot to add that by 2024 I would not be surprised if the R’s win the right to call a Constitutional Convention…
The deck has been stacked and sealed with the theft of the SCOTUS…
That might be the case if the election was now or 4 months ago. But 2018 is a year and a half away. That means a year and a half of an unbridled GOP. It means several unpopular SCOTUS decisions made possible by Gorsuch. It’s not possible to predict the outcome of 2018 based on punditry of today.
Take a close look at the senate seats up for grabs in 2018…
Do you really think that gerrymandering of the house is going to be fixed by 2018?
If courts order it then yes. The maps are almost all in one court or another.
Well, we will soon find out, eh?
Yeah we should. If the courts don’t sit on it and I don’t think they will. The Texas map has been ruled unconstitutional twice. The idea was always to get them straightened out before 2018.
