That dog has more empathy than the entire Republican field of Presidential hopefuls put together
“The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man’s.” Mark Twain
The universe gave us three things to make life bearable: Hope, jokes, and dogs; but the greatest of these gifts was dogs.
Mia Wasikowska
This event will bring tears to anyone’s eyes who has loved a dog. Of course, a dog will always love you. I have never loved any living being more than my dog and have never grieved more than when we had to euthanize him. I will always miss him and keep his ashes on my desk, some of which I’ve spread over the territory we walked almost daily for 8 years. The dog is the incarnation of God and the Buddha, all wrapped up into a furry manifestation of the greatest love man can know. In my humble opinion. Mark Twain was right - I want to meet my dog in his heaven.
Figo is golden, simply golden. Good boy!
My boy of 15 years is now starting to show his age. Bad back legs, general loss of strength. We know that day is coming before too long and it destroys us. I’m dreading the day he won’t be with us anymore.
The dog is a better Christian than almost all who publicly claim to be. He understands the meaning of unconditional love. Too bad those others can’t understand it. Jesus would have been proud of him. Thanks, Figo. You deserve the love of everyone.
Some stories make you cry, that is one of them. That is a hell of a dog.
True story -
Many years ago I was discussing reincarnation with a renowned Tibetan lama, who had been the abbot of a 600 year old monastery before he came to America, and with whom I had become friendly. Someone listening in asked that if you did bad things in this life that then maybe you would be reincarnated as a dog.
RImpoche looked at him and laughed. “Oh no,” he said. “Dogs are very high beings. For many people it would be a step up.” Then he laughed again, in the way a kindly, loving uncle might at a child making a silly mistake.
One of the few times I would actually send money to a “GoFundMe” account. I hope someone sets one up for Figo.
Another reason why I love animals more than I like people
Precious pup!!
Good dog!
Imagine, dogs know more and do better for society than gop/bags…go figure!
Me too!
I dread it for you too. I know how difficult it is to humanely euthanize a pet - I have done it many times - but as I am sure you know, you will be doing the right thing when the time comes and he will know that he was loved beyond measure. Animals know when it’s time and they are ready to go and if we can help them by taking away their suffering, they will understand. The loss is devastating beyond words and grieving is a process but every day will get easier and you will always have those wonderful memories that you will have memorized. You are lucky to have him for 15 years. Most dogs don’t make it that long.
How can you not? I should have added that I also love people who love animals - but those who do not, are deficient
I’m guessing this was Gelek Rimpoche. Am I right?
Try giving him glucosamine with chondroitin. It seems to help my fourteen-year-old Lab.
Guess who loves you unconditionally!!
We’ve had three golden retrievers over the course of 30 years, and we lost our last one in September because she had developed lung cancer. Zoe was only eight, a beautiful soul and body, and some days I don’t think I’ll recover from her loss. I think she probably went to heaven because she was so good and loving and I’ll keep that thought in mind.
