Corker’s opening new frontiers in passive-aggressive written communications!
This “guidance” (which you have to look elsewhere to actually find) looks suspiciously like a foot-dragging effort to create the appearance of grudgingly and belatedly beginning to prepare to comply with a law that Trump obviously hates.
Good for Corker to say he’ll be watching. I hope plenty of other people will be too.
Donnie Trump - The Final Frontier, where no brains have gone before…
“We’re going to check into it,” he said, according to Vox. “I don’t have any way of evaluating whether it’s purposeful or not purposeful.”
Lemme help you out there, Sparky; a blind man could see that this delay was entirely purposeful and intentional. Trump does not bite the hand that feeds him, nor the Russian banks which are keeping his businesses afloat.
Trump’s administration was a week or so late in implementing a law that he didn’t like, one that passed with a veto proof majority, and he’s getting congratulated for doing so (though evidently with some sense of irony involved).
Very low bar, considering his oath of office.
When this admin wants to move on something “like a bitch” they practically shoot themselves in the foot on the quick-draw.
-Immigration ban from select Muslim countries in which Trump had no businesses.
-Anti-abortion anti-immigrant cocktail of malice.
-“Save American Jobs” stunts with the Indiana HVAC company. They really hit this one out of the park by virtue of receiving credit for saving jobs while simultaneously giving it to workers over a barrel.
Trump’s refusal to implement new Russian sanctions is treason. Gorka knows what America did to traitors back when America was Great in the 1950s. Personally I’m in favor of Nuremberg-style punishment but I’ll defer to Gorka’s judgement on this one issue so long as he’s included with the rest of his treasonous comrades.
“McCain and Cardin also urged the State Department to assign the proper staff to implementation of the sanctions. Foreign Policy reported Thursday evening that the State Department has closed its office dedicated to sanctions. David Tessler, the deputy director of the Policy Planning Office, will now oversee sanctions policy, Foreign policy reported, citing congressional staff and former diplomats.”
So, sanctions against Russia, Iran, North Korea, etc., etc. are no longer being implemented and overseen by a dedicated division within the State Department. That certainly helps things run smoothly. And there were some reports within the past couple of days and even going back several months about a big consolidation of power, authority and decision-making within this Policy Planning Office that has a bunch of hacks and not many, if any, career foreign service workers.
“The Senate and House spoke loud and clear by overwhelmingly passing this piece of legislation and sent a strong signal to Iran, Russia and North Korea that our country will stand firm and united in the face of destabilizing behavior,” Corker said in a statement.
In other words, the Senate and the House spoke loud and clear, with overwhelming bi-partisan support of the vast majority of the American people in sending a message to Iran, Russia, and North Korea, that our country will stand firm and united in the face of destabilizing behavior.
Leave it to T rump to against against the united will of the American people.
The cynic in me (pretty much all that’s left of me, lately) thinks that Donald warned Russia which entities will be sanctioned, and Russia needs more time to hollow them out. Or perhaps Russia informed Donald which entities to sanction.
Cool, SINOs!! (Sanctions In Name Only).
To go along with P*INO in the Whites House and his AINOs that support him.
The narrative here kind of reminds me of Corker and his GOP buddies refusing to legislate increased State Department Embassy Security funding, and then investigating Secretary of State Clinton for 8 years when people were killed in an Embassy attack. Here the State Dept, run by a Russian decorated oil executive with no diplomatic experience unilaterally eliminates a critical part of the Department. Shockingly, the GOP Senate and House Majorities have neither expressed outrage, nor commenced any Congressional investigation.
