Sadly, many trump supporters will be impacted negatively by this bill. Will this finally wake people up to the orange nogoodnick? He is just a front for the real evil that is baked into the right wing.

Senators React To ‘Awful’ CBO Score Of GOP’s Obamacare Repeal Bill

… “You’ve got to have a moral compass, and this is just not right,” [Sen. Joe Manchin, D-WV] said. [/quote]

It’s not that the GOP doesn’t have a moral compass, Sen. Manchin.

They do. And it correctly points out right and wrong.

It’s just that the GOP willfully chooses wrong, because it’s more profitable for their rich Conservative donors, and because they think the Republican voting base will be good with that as long as the base believes the bill hurts those other people more.

“You can’t do that and look at the elderly, the poor, and the people who are addicted and just kneecap them. You just can’t.”

Republicans can. They put Donald Trump in the office of the President of the United States of America. Nothing is beyond the pale for them anymore.

“How can you look at yourself after helping the people who need help the least and taking away from those who need it the most and depends on us the most?”

Republicans can look at themselves with pride. Helping wealthy Conservatives and disenfrachising the rest of us is their reason for being. It’s what gives their lives savor.

They are evil.

Is the ten million overestimated by the CBO, that repubs bitch about, due to all the red states not expanding Medicaid?

"“I am still reviewing the report,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told reporters asking for his thoughts on the CBO’s findings. “I was literally just handed it.”

Cruz went on to say, “But really that does not matter. My initial take is that if millions of people lose insurance, while we are simultaneously able to provide gigantic tax cuts to the wealthy, we will have done our jobs.”

Democrats, finish the thought -

“The Republicans have been lying all along, Years-long fabrications of so-called Obamacare disasters. Republicans have recently been promising something better than Obamacare, a make-believe land where noone would be subjected to preexisting-conditions tests, kids would be covered to 26, and there would magically be no mandate necessary. The CBO exposes their lying. Vote for Democrats and Liberals if you want your standard of living to increase.”

I’m sure that it played a significant role. Yet more sabotage from the traitorous right-wing.

This is how Congressional Republicans and their wealthy allies look at themselves after doing just that…

More from Kriugman -Special Op Ed piece.

Now my questions: First, can this legislation still go through? I have learned never to underestimate the cravenness of Republican “moderates,” who may posture to the center but almost always cave to the hard right when it matters. But even so, it’s hard to imagine this act of cruelty getting 50 senators. And if it can’t pass the Senate, won’t right-wing purists in the House decide to advertise their purity by voting against a bill that still falls short of free-market ideals rather than vote for Obamacare 0.5?

Second, what were Republican leaders thinking? Something like this C.B.O. score was a foregone conclusion; would it really have mattered much if it were 15 million losing insurance, not 24 million? How was this supposed to work out politically?

But the lemming-like way Republicans rushed into this disaster is still amazing.

Ok, we are the informed polulous, so we know why the original CBO numbers did not match up and why little Marco Rubio effectively killed a large portion of the ACA. I am wondering, though, if the CBO has not miscalculated this bill as well. If we are to believe that only 24 million muriKKKans will be without healthcare and it will save 360 billion , did they not factor in the 42,000 deaths per year and the lost tax base drom that. Did they not factor in the fact that most red state republiCONz will actually choose not to have any insurance at all, because there is nothing to stop them now. Did they not factor in the costs associated with the explosion of unpaid emergency room visits and how that will impact local and state coffiers… the repeal and replacement as proposed will actually bankrupt the uSA within ten years, cause many deaths, cause the employment of people in the healthcare and insurance industries to dramatically decrease and the unemployed in this country will rise to tRUMP’s 42% remark. This bill, if passed, will be the end of our country… and they know it!

“Manchin, his voice almost breaking with emotion, said the legislation’s massive tax cuts for the wealthy add “insult to injury.””

Would this be the same Manchin whose “compassionate” daughter drastically raised the price of Epipens, just 'cause she could? Under the Ms. Brooke Manchin’s watch as CEO of the pharma company:

“The drug, which cost around $100 in 2009, shot up to as much as $600.”

Sen. Manchin is one of the all-time great hypocrites of the US Senate.

Well you see, Joe, aboout 35-40 years ago, in the early 80’s the GOP underwent a moral compass pole reversal. Now that’s your problem right there. Yes sirree, Bob, er…Joe.

I’d really like to know how much more money the federal government would take in if the FICA tax salary cap was removed. Would Social Security be funded in perpetuity? Would there be enough left over to fund Medicare for everybody as I suspect would be the case?

Inquiring minds would like to know

“Moral compass” my ass. The only thing that really and truly matters to anyone in the House or Senate is reelection.
Edit
And most any GOPer doesn’t give a shit about ordinary folk or their everyday problems. Some in the GOP believe this healhcare insurance stuff is just welfare under a new name. They actually believe having insurance does not mean that then some poor guy in Cleveland can now actually have a primary care doctor. They truly do not see the connection that using insurance to afford a doctor visit is important. I saw my doctor this afternoon. Medicare pays for it. I wish every last human in America could have the same thing I have. I really do

The moon has stopped.
The earth slows down just enough that all that are full of BS will slowly be let go by gravity to the promised land just on the other side of the moon. The dark side.

Indeed he is, but this time he’s showing an appropriate degree of empathy and contrition. I believe in pillorying on a case by case basis.

IIRC there once was a projection that had the Social Security Trust Fund fully solvent through 2075 if the salary cap were lifted to $150,000.
