Discussion: Senators Prepare Bill To Block Firing Of Mueller

Nice idea. But it’d have to be passed with veto-proof majorities.
I’m not sure if the GOP: Special Victims Unit would do that.

I would anticipate more interference from the House before it could even be passed there in the first place.

OK, Shakespeare said in peace you should be all nice and, you know, peaceful. But in war, “imitate the action of a tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour’d rage; Then lend the eye a terrible aspect.” And here’s just the tiger to show you! Newborn at the National Zoo! Rarrrrr!

Trump: I will fire Muller and then sign this stupid bill. I still win.

I’ve come to the realization that T rump’s tweets are simply his bowel movements. He sits on the toilet (i presume), and out comes a tweet! Scaramooch was hired to clean up the mess.

Attributed to LBJ:
In an early campaign someone accused his opponent of , I think, beating his wife.
A supporter remarked: “But he doesn’t!
LBJ: " Let’s make the sonofabitch deny it”
Let’s watch the votes, and explanations.
Also:McCain probably a yes.

From memory, corrections welcome.

Thanks.

Yes, it’d be an uphill battle in the House. But what about adding tons and tons of constituent pressure to the mix? We’re getting to have quite the track record of doing that nowadays. Here is another excellent opportunity to flex our phone call/fax/townhall/etc pressure. This, in addition to what @outsidertrading618 said “Let’s watch the votes, and explanations.”

A very worthy goal. Very worthy goal. Let’s all get up in our House members’s grills and see what they say.

“A Graham spokesman says the senator’s still working on the bill, and it’s unclear when it will be introduced.”

It better be soon–like tomorrow–or it will be in vain.

I wonder if any Republicans would have the guts to oppose such a measure. If so, what sort of consequences would they face at home? My gut feeling is that most people are at least in favor of Mueller’s investigation and very worried Trump might fire him. Even many of Trump’s supporters might think firing Mueller is crossing a line. Any Republican who is seen providing cover for such a move is likely going to pay a high price for it. We’ll see.

Yup. He’s an ass-wipe all right.

Well we’ll all see if anything like this actually happens. Somehow, I doubt it. Republicans sold out what little integrity they had years ago. For this to pass both houses with a veto-proof margin would require nothing short of divine intervention, which I don’t even believe in.

Why judicial review? What’s the standard of review?

GOP: Special Victims Unit TM

Fixed it for you.

Good cause

There has to be good cause to fire Mueller. That is what the standard is.
