Discussion for article #225129

And this is surprising how?

I’d comment on this, but after all of todays’ headlines about the GOP, I’m suffering from hypocrisy fatigue

Typical. They don’t want to do shit nor are they interested in protecting women. So much for their claim of government coming between you and your healthcare. In this case the GOP is fine with the bosses doing so.

Demonstrating yet again that Republicans have this absolute craving to control every lady’s “lady bits”, they just can’t help themselves. I guess it goes back to their repressed and juvenile views on sex, sexuality and the rolls of women in modern society. The party has some real psychological ‘ISSUES’ and needs to see a psychiatrist. Sure seems to me that they could use some industrial strength dosages of Xanax or Prozac.

A woman can still buy contraception on her own, that’s true. It’s also true that Hobby Lobby can eat a bag of dicks on its own. It’s a free country, after all.

“Symbolic legislation offered in response by [Repubs] would affirm that a woman can still buy contraception on her own.”

Really? That is their response legislation? Good God. Of course women can buy it on their own, even for valid medical conditions, if they can afford it. If they can’t, tough luck, says the Repubs.

Yet again, 56% is not a majority.

The GOP, they want a government just tiny enough to fit in a vagina.

Republicans filibuster bill! In other news, today is a day.

You miss the point. The Republicans are throwing women a bone by not demanding that contraception be removed from the market.

is there anything new here really?
i am disgusted by the turn this country has taken and the GOP/Tea Party who have completely disregarded the basic equality principles and separation of church and state which were part of the basis for the founding of our country.
They are completely determined to override the principles upon which this nation was founded in turning into a corporate oligarchy with an established state religion entitled to discriminate against all that don’t follow their rigid and immoral paths!

And, this is surprising. Get Republicans (and the Supreme Court) OUT of our vaginas!!!

H e l l o … Anyone can still buy anything without insurance coverage. That is not the point!! The point is that women who take the pill-- for contraception or any other reason-- are taking hormones. That means they need annual exams to go with their prescriptions. Sure they can pay for all of that out of pocket. They could pay for their breast cancer treatments out of pocket as well. And men could pay for their prostate cancer treatment out of pocket as well.
Wouldn’t you think that the men and women behind the meme that Walmart sells “the pill” for $9.99 a month would have some sexually active or otherwise “pill-dependent” women in their lives to help educate them about the medical aspect of taking hormones? Their heads are in some other universe.

“[A] woman can still buy contraception on her own….”

She can buy chemotherapy on her own, too. Also mastectomies, hysterectomies, prescription drugs, physical therapy, or even heart surgery.

But the whole point of health insurance is so that you don’t have to buy these things on your own.

See, this is why you should never vote Republican: because they don’t even understand simple concepts like insurance.

“…would affirm that a woman could still purchase contraception on her own.”
How big of them.

Someone point out to me again where that super-majority thingy is in the Constitution?

Reid should bring this up over and over. Force GOP senators to vote against women many times between now and November. I think that some of the people up for election this year might well come around.

I wish reporters would stop calling it cost-free contraceptive coverage. It’s no-copay contraceptive coverage–as are other kinds of preventive care.

…and Democrats on the teevee should be screaming about this and using controversial language to ensure coverage and panel discussions.
