Discussion: Senate Prepares To Vote On 'Skinny Repeal' Hoping It Won't Become Law

If you don’t want a bill to become law, you vote no on it…the last thing you do is hope yes and then depend on other politicians to do what you want. Mark my words, the House will vote through whatever the Senate sends them, so they can avoid any more of this and pass something. The desperation to do anything is so clear, how anyone can fool themselves into thinking the House and Senate will debate things further is a mystery.

Wasn’t this what the House did right before the fraternity beer bash on the south lawn?

I am not sure it can work that way. If the Conference Committee comes up with something that is different than both chambers will need to vote on them again. It would not just go to the president for signing. Unless I read you wrong.

The easiest way for them to pass whatever is get it out of the Senate and the House to agree with it and vote for it. That would then be it. It would go to the president.

And then the chaos would kick in.

They really are gonna do this. They know they are f**king up and they just can’t stop themselves. The healthcare and health insurance systems are about to be thrown into absolute chaos and GOPs are powerless to stop themselves.

I’m really torn… I almost wish that the Senate passes the “skinny repeal” and then the House accepts it without modifications. This will hurt millions of people. But this may be the only way to bring some of Trump voters back to their senses. I almost wish…

Be careful what you wish for. Almost…

Same goes for gullible Republican senators.

And 90 percent of them will be reelected without breaking a sweat.

No more excuses. Every senator knows where this is headed - if they vote for the bill they’re voting to strip 16,000,000 Americans of their insurance and tank the individual markets.

Martial Law must mean everyone stays in town to vote. If this passes into law, it will cause chaos in the insurance markets. They all know this and do not care.

I haven’t seen this irony noted, but recall that during the democratic primary in 2008 that Obama’s original healthcare plan was essentially Obamacare without the individual mandate. What the R’s are about to pass as an amendment to Obamacare that finally accomplishes Obama’s original plan. Nice.

This this this, exactly this, it’s the first thing I thought of when I read this. It’s like Strangelove-ian in the sense of both sides have the ability to destroy the world, but neither side really believes the other will do it.

But this isn’t communists and capitalists, this is folks in the same party playing chicken with one another.

Seriously, like, is this real?

Remember when the Democrats “rammed through” the ACA?

If you’re ever trying to figure out what a Republican wants to do, look at what they’re accusing a Democrat of doing. Works every time.

banana republicans yet again

this is exactly how a third world government would behave

so much for the “great American Century”, fucking thing never got off the ground with Bushco, this iteration of government is, to quote Tommy Boy, every time I drive down the road I wanna jerk the wheel INTO A GODDAMNED BRIDGE ABUTMENT.

Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time.

edit: (I mention third world-like behavior as I was witness to some during my Peace Corps time, this is a lot what it felt like when the national government came apart in the country that I served)
