Note who the two dissenting votes on the senate NATO resolution, Rand Paul and Mike Lee. Apparently they think Libertarianism and Strict constructionism or Originalism are great theories. Though we know from history it’s really lousy protecting the national interest in the last and 21st century.
The treaty itself is already binding, so I’m not sure what the resolution could have done to make it more binding. I’d be more impressed with a censure of the president for attempting to undermine the treaty, but getting republicans to agree on the record that an international organization has value is a good thing.

Paul, at least, is a dyed-in-the-wool isolationist who wants us out of all military treaties. I’m not surprised by this vote, and he doesn’t exactly stand to lose anything, since ‘get us out of every other country’ is kinda one of the things he campaigns on every time… much like his father.
I’m waiting for the day 97 Senators will have a chance to vote in favor of convicting PPee after he’s been indicted by the House.

Seriously, if the Republican Party wants to keep their majority in Congress, they either need to impeach and remove Trump before November’s election, or they need Agent Mueller to finally indict Trump, so they can force him to resign.
