Discussion: Senate Overwhelmingly Backs Defense Policy Bill Pumping $700B Into Military

Is this to pay for Donnie’s biggest beautiful military parade?

i should not have to ask who voted against it.

Besides Corker

Now maybe McCain won’t be so grumpy and will consider voting against his pal’s dog’s breakfast of a health care bill. A guy can hope, anyway.

We will never get the budget under control until we get control of the defense contractors.

This shocking budget is why Americans can’t have health care and other nice things.

The Pentagon can now add that to the $6.5 trillion it can’t account for and, of course, lose some more wars.
Good times.

Yes. But the repaving of the parade route to accommodate heavy artillery will have to come out of The District’s social services budget.

And very little of this $ will go to actual soldiers. Or veterans.

But fuck healthcare, amirite?

It’s better than that. The C-4 Rethugliklans are attempting to attach to the ACA will blow a massive hole in the Medicaid budget, which many veterans rely on for their healthcare.

But now is not the time to discuss that. Let’s focus on all the shiny new “NO TRANNIES” signs.

What, you got a problem with that? They have oodles of money…

It is worth asking whether it took the US a bit longer to also lose the Cold War.

So, the UN as the world’s leading peace keeping organization is told by Donnie to cut its budget…even while the US creates and looks for more wars around the world.

Meanwhile, Donnie and the gun crazed and bomb crazed Republicans want to increase US military spending - the US already spends more on its military than the next 20 nations combined. Who in their right mind would ever think that needs to be increased and NOT reduced.

Military spending and wars are bankrupting the US! And we know Trump is an expert on how to go bankrupt…he’s done it to his business FIVE times matching the five times he dodged the draft and serving in the military!

Trump = insanity

With that kind of money there is no need for a border wall. The military can defend the U.S. / Mexico border. Great job fellas.

More soldiers are being killed in training accidents than in combat. And a legislator thinks this is a bad thing?

(And yeah, fewer of them should be getting killed in training accidents, but when you have a creeping dominionist takeover and piles of money being shoved at people with no plausible mission, morale and competence are not going to be the first considerations.)

Democrats and Republicans united for war preparations.

Yes. Because nothing says you’re serious about waging the Global War on Terrorism quite like boosting spending on tanks and shit.

Is there not a single member of either party who can stand up and state the obvious that we could be more than well defended for half what we spend now?

WTF? NO!!! We need ROADS. We need BRIDGES. We need HOSPITALS. For Christ’s sake…no freakin’ more.

It is right there in front of everybody - the party that is worried about the deficit is trying, once again, to expand it beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. Tax cuts plus increased spending - every newscaster should be required to demonstrate this bullshit with a chalkboard. Rah, rah - we are going to solidify our position as a second rate country with the biggest military in the world. Hooray. The next politician that stands up there with a flag pin on his lapel and starts yammering about America being the greatest country in the world should have his pants pulled down around his ankles right then and there.
