I wonder what is going on with this, behind the scenes. It smells kind of like Manafort is cutting deals.
Tuesday: “The GOP isn’t doing enough to protect me as their President.”
Wednesday: GOP-led committee withdraws subpoena to Manafort.
It could be that he’s talking to Mueller’s people and they don’t want the Judiciary Committee hearing to interfere with their investigation. Fingers crossed.
That’s not the correct framing for this at all. Manafort is turning over even more documents, and is negotiating to appear before the Judiciary Committee later on.
Keep in mind, the Judiciary Committee’s interest in Manafort is almost peripheral; he wasn’t a player in the firing of Comey, which is their main interest. Manafort is the prime target for the Intelligence Committee and more importantly, Mueller.
My guess is ,there are back room talks going on between Grassley, Burr and Mueller, that are essentially writing Manafort’s interview calendar.

Seems likely. And, there’s the possibility that Burr and Grassley are walking a tightrope between conducting a proper investigation and incurring the wrath of Trump and the feral Trumpsters.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Mueller has turned Manafort and wants the Congress to get out of the way so he can use Manafort to climb the criminal ladder. This ought to be very concerning for Trump and associates. I also think the same thing might have occurred with Flynn.
I like the sound of your statement. But knowing how much Manafort was tied up with Russian Oligarchs (Putin’s Russian Mob), I’d be very surprised if Manafort rolls over for Mueller…Manafort would be dead within a month. Putin and his Oligarchs have assassinated several past associates who were turned by authorities in other countries. At least 3 have been assassinated in the UK alone. And to demonstrate the thereat of Putin, the UK authorities have shut down that investigation over fear of more reprisals from Putin and his mob.
Manafort will take prison time in the US before he rolls over for Mueller and becomes a Putin target. Putin is ruthless - former head of the KGB during the USSR days.
You can also know that the Trump family and Trump himself are very fearful of Putin.

Exactly. A lot of people were complaining about Kushner not testifying under oath, but the stage they are entering now, that isn’t necessary. Merely getting everyone to put their version of events on the record is enough. Then they start analyzing each for inconsistencies and start dangling deals.
That is why lawyers tell their clients to just STFU and say absolutely nothing. But these idiots can’t stop their gums from flapping, and each story they tell provides more inconsistencies to go after with someone else.
Now they know the FBI is talking to several of them, its gets more interesting. This is why Trump’s lawyers are so deeply concerned about Kushner still whispering in Trump’s ears.

Read about that! They were gruesome assassinations, as I recall – one guy impaled alive on a fence post and left to die slowly. But it’s never happened in the U.S., right?
I’m one of the one’s who’s been questioning why Kushner wasn’t under oath. But I can’t see this as a reason. Their stories already don’t add up. Kushner is allowed to keep changing his story for his security clearance, so I see no reason to think him not being under oath is going to result in some sort of consequence – for him or for anyone.
I think that Manafort is providing evidence that Kushner, dirty Preshitident Trump and his sleazy spawn were long standing Russian FSB operatives who were rewarded richly for treason.
Don’t forget what has been going on in the US. The Russian ambassador to the United Nations, Roger Ailes, Peter Smith. Preshitident Trump, Ivank Trump and Cuck Kushner are well connected to the Russian mafia in New York. They are known to be quite ruthless to their business adversaries and may be more ruthless than Putin himself.
I understand that Kushner has been ratting on President Trump to protect himself. He does not want to end up in prison like his sleazy dad.
Yet. You always need to add the word yet to those phrases. They have Kushner dead to rights on perjury already because of his security forms. They just want him for bigger issues and they want him running around creating bigger issues and snagging other players.
Remember Trump’s lawyers being concerned about Kushner still talking to Trump all the time? They are concerned because that goes towards a conspiracy charge for both. Crimes are almost certainly still occurring even as we discuss this.
Even adding the “yet”, I just don’t see it. Kushner’s not going to say something helpful just because he’s not under oath and we already know he’s lying. What new information do you think is going to come out just because he’s not under oath? (information includes a useful discrepancy – beyond the discrepancies we already have)
Personally, I doubt that, as this stage. Kushner probably doesn’t yet realize how truely screwed he is, and is still dreaming of getting through all of this unscathed with money, prestige and power in tact.
Once the realization sets in,that that is never going to happen…then he will start worrying about going to jail and considering tossing Daddy-In-Law to Mueller. But even that gets pretty dicey, because it IS his Daddy-In-Law, and that will almost certainly mean divorcing Ivanka. And a divorced Ivanka will side with Daddy and will have A LOT of dirt to spill on her ex. Keep in mind that spousal privilege only exists if the spouse (Ivanka in this scenario) wants it to exist. Kushner can’t claim it to shut her up, only she can claim it to refuse to testify against him. If she WANTS to testify against him…she can have at it.
