doesn’t that cut into the time you’re diligently not spending on the Merrick Garland nomination?

“I will call Senator Grassley,” Feinstein said.

Hmmm. I wonder what she’s going to call him? I have a few suggestions.

Are you embarrassed at the prospect of a racist, misogynist, xenophobic, cannabis-paranoid bigot being held to account for 30+ years of not hiding any of the above?

You remember when Ashcroft ordered Lady Justice covered up? Sessions will do the same thing, only this time with the Stars ‘n’ Bars.

Democrats should filibuster all of Trump’s cabinet picks until the full senate gives Obama’s supreme court pick an up or down vote.

When will the Democrats start playing hard ball and fight fascism before the Republicans destroy our nation.

WTF? Is this demented old farmer suggesting that they replace the current POTUS’s pick without his nominating? I’m pretty sure the President has to nominate someone before they can approve:

Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution, provides for the President, who “shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate…” these high government officials.

Ahhhh…draining the swamp, right Grassley?

Hmmm…hurry to hold hearings on Sessions while they continue to obstruct Garland? Seems like Sessions needs to get in line.

Eric Holder was Nominated on Jan 20, 2009, approved by the committee on the 29th and confirmed by the whole Senate on Feb 2. He was installed on March 27th. Do these Republicans even think about telling the facts as they happened?

He was proposed before the 20th. Obviously couldn’t be nominated before the 20th, as Obama was not yet president. I don’t know for certain whether Grassley’s correct about when hearings began for Holder, but since the Democrats have not yet commented on that part of his statement, I would guess that he is.

As you were writing me, I was double checking with the transcript of those hearings. You, and Grassley, are right. They started on the 16th of Jan. I just haven’t figured out why… http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/16/us/politics/16text-holder.html

Of course you’re right - Trump isn’t president yet so he can’t nominate anyone. It’s just that the GOP is so giddy with power that they can’t seem to help themselves. Let’s pray their constant overreaching comes back to bite them.

I guess that since the new Senate takes office on Jan. 3rd, they can do whatever Trump wants. I now see that that is whappened with Holder. The Senate gets sworn in a couple of weeks before the POTUS.

Damn, our system is complicated!

Period. End it right there. ALL of Trump’s picks should be filibustered, blocked, run through the ringer (and be dirty about it) non-stop until he drops them. And after he drops them, keep it up for another month.

It won’t work. Reid changed the rules to ensure that Obama’s executive branch nominees couldn’t be filibustered (after months of Republican obstruction). It’s a safe bet that McConnell will continue that rule.
