Discussion: Senate Intelligence Community To Probe Russia, Trump Campaign Ties

Richard Burr chairs this committee. I repeat: Richard Burr chairs this committee.

Therefore, nothing will come out of whatever “investigating” is done that could in any way do the slightest harm to any Republican anywhere.

Oh, and did I mention that Richard Burr chairs this committee?

Trump: My first signing statement will be to bar any investigation which involves Russia or my Taxes. If you do it, you go to jail in Siberia.

On the discomfort scale, I think videos of a sodden king size bed Trump a Dick Burr…

Where this goes (not likely to go far) depends on how seriously it begins to look like the damage Team Trump will bring to bear will be so egregious that it will taint the entire party. We are far, far from that point - at least from the perspective of the entrenched - power hungry Party before Country GOP.

But team trump’s bull in the china shop routine for preparing to run the country is promising to break a heck of a lot of china - burn bridges with the intelligence community - making it more likely that the country is unprotected from an external attack. That happens while the GOP does nothing - takes the whole GOP down like it’s never been pulled down before. No grace like W got after 911 and no patriot gloss given to the GOP in congress. They have obstructed so long (8 years), the alarms are sounding loudly enough that the probe has been announced, something goes down - and it is really, really bad for their party.

Not terribly hopeful, but holding on to a think thread of “let’s see where this goes.”

A step toward preserving the republic? Or a step toward delay, obfuscation, cover-up, and sweeping under the rug? It will take more than this - with Burr and McConnell in charge - to get the answers and actions we need.

Fire just got hotter …

Now … we need some bellows ----

Thank you Trump voters. At least we caught a break by not getting the highly qualified candidate who used a private email server.

Chaffetz: I will subpoena every Senate member and Hillary/Obama to stop this abuse of power.

The bellows are us. We call senators and demand answers.

I got an email from Dailykos and apparently Congress people are getting flooded with calls from angry voters who don’t like Sessions, various other cabinet appointees, Russia or Vlad Putin and do like the ACA, medicare and social security. It’s having an affect, according to what I read.

This is interesting… Could slow down much of the “do it quick before they notice” agenda. Need to keep the heat on all associated with Trump all the time, do not give them time to act on anything else. At the same time need to everyday by whatever means possible voice the damage that will be done by the R agenda.

AT the very least, Americans hear this much: Senate Intelligence Committee is investigating Trump and Russian ties. That’s enough.

Just keeps up the steady drip drip drip of scandal and illegitimacy.

@tena Thanks for the glimmer of hope…

They may not listen to much, but enough voters start to howl at them directly and hell yes they will listen. They want to keep their jobs.

This will be the way the so called establishment Republicans keep Trump in line. If he gets too uppity they will have a dozen ways to impeach him.

They’d like nothing better than for us to be demoralized and give up.

People power - “government of the people, by the people, for the people.”

Let’s not fail all of those who have kept this country going, especially those who have given their lives to do so.

Trump involved in more scandals before he takes office than Obama had in 8 years (and that includes the “scandals” the Republicans invented).

You are absolutely right about that. They bank on it and they also bank on being able to keep their extremists fired up.

I think it is too late. The horse is out of the barn. Just as Nero supposedly fiddled while Rome burned, Trump will be tweeting while the enemy ICBMs are minutes from DC.

trumpettes will be turning toward Russian and away from Africa including humanitarian efforts, fighting guerilla movements and looking for their leaders. The numbnuts are asking:

“The LRA has never attacked U.S. interests, why do we care? Is it worth the huge cash outlays? I hear that even the Ugandans are looking to stop searching for him, since they no longer view him as a threat, so why do we?”

“Is PEPFAR [AIDS and TB funding] worth the massive investment when there are so many security concerns in Africa? Is PEPFAR becoming a massive, international entitlement program?”

The Ebola epidemic, which killed almost 10,000 people in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia (but no Americans), comes up once in the document.

“How do we prevent the next Ebola outbreak from hitting the U.S.?”

All Africa will have left is Gates and his foundation’s billions doing the necessary work. Wait for the cheering from the RWNJs.

@inlabsitrust When the Roman senators realized they had to get rid of the dictator Caesar they acted quickly. Every one joined in the killing
