Discussion: Senate Dems To GOP: You're Sure Not Acting Like You Need Us

No. These people are killers in every sense. My grandmother is worried sick that her Medicare is at risk. This is not something she should have to deal with at the age of 80.

No, the people who want to kill her deserve nothing.

McConnell will kill the filibuster. Those 51 Republicans will march lock step knowing that if any one of them deviates from the Party Line they will be purged by the rabid racist Republican base.

And you see how our Media is doubling down on their asskissing of Trump.

Nonsense. Thereā€™s plenty of media criticizing Trump. Blaming the ā€œmediaā€ is a poor substitute for thinking.

How much will Republicans try to sneak through under the reconciliation (and thereā€™s a misnomer if there ever was one) process? And what can Democrats do? A lawsuit would be a very long shot. Courts tend to stay out of political squabbles. Democrats have to see this as the opening round of the 2018 and 2020 election campaigns.

But what about the people on Obamacare who DIDNā€™T vote for Drumpf? The ones who worked for Clinton, the ones who voted for her and, yes, the ones who didnā€™t vote for either of them. Theyā€™ll suffer, too.

You can tell your grandmother that nothing is going to happen to HER medicare. GOP will not fuck over current seniors, who make up a significant portion of their voting base.

They WILL fuck over the rest of us who are under 65, and have been paying into Medicare our entire working lives but will get nothing for it but a coupon and a hearty ā€œGood luckā€ from the fucking GOP.

They can only repeal parts of OC through reconcilation, they likely will, it will create choas and hurt millions of Americans and their families and they will reap that whirlwind. If they break it, instead of fixing it, which wouldnt be that hard, then they own it all and whatever consequesces will be entirely on Republicans.
Seven YEARS now and STILL they have no plan!!? How is that possible? They have no shame, and no care or concern about average Americans. 60 million Trump voters just got played, in a lot of different ways by Trump. Bigly!

Well, Iā€™m certainly glad that your sorry ass isnā€™t in the senate. You sound like the leftwing version of Trump.

It is starting to seem like the master plan of some of the more intelligent Repugs is to continue to talk about repealing Obamacare and then blame Democrats for not working with them to make it better. Now that they actually have power, you can almost sense their fear as they realize how much their moronic plan to ā€œrepeal Obamacare on Day 1ā€ is going to piss off giant insurance companies, hospitals, and many other deeply invested parties.

Every Democrat needs to be saying the same thing - youā€™ve had 7 years, where is your plan? You said you had something better, where is it? Keep it simple, stupid.

If even one Dem goes along with this mythical replacement plan, you can be sure the GOP will continually tout the ā€œbipartisanā€ nature of said plan. Dems need to stay strong and united! (But i will believe it when i see itā€¦)

What the Republicans are asking is help from the Dems to protect the US health insurance industry. Because that is what will be destroyed.

Democrats should say ā€˜good riddanceā€™ and let it collapse.

Four score and seven years ago, the Republicans said repeal and replace. Now itā€™s repeal and delay? Why would anyone think the Republicans are smart enough or have enough time to draft a replacement. There are just too many wars to plan, towers to negotiate and build, walls to fund and dream about and women to grab. They will be too busy with that agenda to do anything other than to prevent Obama from coming to get their guns for the next four years.

Popcorn prices are already increasing.

" yes, the ones who didnā€™t vote for either of them"

They elected Trump in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pa. I donā€™t care about them AT ALL.

I suggest that the Democrats have a simple one-page replacement plan ready to offer the American people: Medicare for All Americans.

The ACA (which I supported because it was better than the status-quo) was a complex, ā€œmarket-basedā€ solution based on a conservative plan designed to protect private insurance companies. Even so, it was attacked and demonized by Republicans and insurance companies. Fine, letā€™s try something else, a program that already works well for 50 million Americans, a program similar to what other advanced economies offer their citizens.

Democrats should unite around a real health insurance solution and refuse to give political cover to Republican disasters. A simple Tweetable solution like Medicare for All Americans might even gain support from the POTUS-elect. That would be ironic.

Rubbish, you have your head in the sand.

Rubbish, grow up.

over,
You might want to avail yourself of some of the fine cognitive behavioral therapy services available in your area.
Your empathy for your fellow human beings seems to be rather off. Broken, even.

The title is given to a person who had a major impact on the worldā€”for good or ill.

It is not necessarily an honor.

GOP is terrified! This was the 1 scenario that they never imagined happening: complete and total control of the US Government. They really are free to do whatever they want. They caught the car. They promised repeal and replace for over 6 years. Time to piss in the pot or get off.

The Democrats BEGGED the GOP to work with them to help improve ObamaCare. NOPE! Not gonna do it the GOP said. ObamaCare is the work of Satan!

Well played, sir!

Do not look to Democrats to help you pass something that takes health care insurance away from the people that are now insured. You get no cover here. Not going to happen. The GOP has enough votes to do it all on their own and take the credit or the blame for the results.

That GOP policy wonk (wanker?) Paul Ryan certainly had this all figured out and we anxiously await to see the GOPā€™s solution. He assured me that I get to keep my doctor. YAAAAA!!!
