Discussion: Senate Dems Report Slams Trump For Ignoring New Russian Meddling Threats

The US would be stronger and better off if any confederate state wants to leave (secede) from our Democracy. Let the white fascist banana Republican states go…the remaining states will be united and far better off. Time for Texas and Oklahoma and Arizona and Mississippi and Alabama and Mar-a-Lago and the rest of them to go!

We be a lot stronger today if we just got rid of the electoral college before the last prez election.
Imagine where we would be today if the popular vote put the right person where she should be.
The difference is astounding…

This needs to be the unrelenting refrain from the Dem’s. Not only to keep Russia front and center, but also to prevent Russia from tilting future elections. Getting Trumped once was bad enough for the next few millennia…

There are a hell of a lot of good Democrats in the ā€œredā€ confederate states, and they’ve been victimized by systematic disenfranchisement by the white Republicans, who are probably no longer a majority. You’d be a fool to write off entire regions because of relatively recent election results which have shown clear interference. At least, Abe Lincoln would have said so.

An article about Russian trolls, and you’re the first commenter, trying to derail the conversation. How unsurprising. Where’s my can of Boris-be-gone?

And there are a hell of a lot of racist in the northern states.

ā€œA new report by Senate Democrats warns of deepening Russian interference throughout Europe and concludes that even as some Western democracies have responded with aggressive countermeasures, President Donald Trump has offered no strategic plan to bolster their efforts or safeguard the U.S. from again falling victim to the Kremlin’s systematic meddling.ā€œ

Trump and his traitorous GOP lackeys hope Russia meddles in our 2018 and 2020 elections. Why would they stop that?

Urging Dump to begin a task force or commission to protect the country from his bestie Putin is of course pointless. But it’s also probably unnecessary. I tend to think that the real counter intelligence on the Russian troll problem is going on under the radar and without Dump’s knowledge or interference, much like the rest of the actual U.S. governance.

Yeah the senators’ job, or at least Republican ones, is to waste the public’s money!

I’m glad you think so. Even assuming the best I still worry about individual states left to fend for themselves protecting their voting infrastructure without a unified federal effort to provide guidance or mandating them to do so.

I know I’ll be holding my breath come midterm election day.

That is a definite concern, but on the other hand, the diffuse and diverse voting infrastructure from all those different localities, while making centralized guidance difficult, also makes foreign interference difficult.

Indeed. But based on the NSA report leaked to the Intercept last June, the Russians did target at least one voting machine manufacturer and ā€œRussian intelligence obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple US state or local electoral boards.ā€ And according to DHS voting infrastructure of 21 states were targeted for compromise. I’ve still yet to see any public damage assessment and kind of doubt we’ll see one given it would take a federal effort and our president seems to be counting on Russian assistance again.

From what I’ve read the compromises appeared to be an exploratory effort to gather as much info as possible on voting infrastructure of targeted states, so it’d be naive to think they won’t be back more informed and prepared to compromise vote tallies this time, if they hadn’t already done so significantly last time that we’re just not aware of because of the utter lack of federal initiative to find out.

Agreed. Fortunately, I doubt our IC is particularly naive, and they aren’t paying any attention to Dump. I read somewhere that I’m too lazy to look up right now that the administration people in charge of dealing with Russia just don’t bother to ā€œwalk the last few steps into the Oval Officeā€ to tell him what they’re doing. Can’t interfere with his special executive time, you know.

You have my Condolences.
Texas is the first to mention seceding from the country.
I would vote YES

Trump’s real estate empire would collapse into another bankruptcy and a death sentence without his money laundering sales to the Russian mob (Putin and his Oligarchy).

I would vote a resounding YES to expelling any failed confederate state to leave the US. The US would be stronger and much more united without the Republican white fascists from Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, W Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, Arizona, and etc.
