Discussion for article #231166

If confirmed the first order of business for the good doctor will be prescribing adult Depends for the Democratic pants-wetters who blinked over the NRA’s objections to him.

Guns kill more people than they kill animals.

Some sport.

Some who lost re-electon anyway?

Make hay while the sun shines. Hope it doesn’t get too dark when the republicans take over.

I could look it up, but does a presidential line-item veto still exist? I’m thinking about that awful giveaway to the banks in the budget bill. I just can’t believe it after all the horrific damage to the economy when it was “lawful”.

I defer to greater minds than my own, but I believe the line item veto under the first Clinton administration was deemed unconstitutional, and the one proposed under Bush never passed.

Note: I didn’t look it up either …

Guns kill more people than they kill animals.

Just the deer harvest in Wisconsin alone, this year, killed over ten times as many deer (342,631) as all the human gun fatalities in the entire United States from all causes, including accidents, suicides, crimes and homicides by police.

No point in trying to outdo the Tea Party with the scope of your ignorance.

BTW, I strongly support President Obama’s nominee for Surgeon General, and very much hope for some official analysis of the causes and possible remedies to our current level of gun violence, which is a serious problem, especially in certain urban areas of America.

Excellent response, as folks really should get their facts straight before making comments likely based on emotion and not reason. And I agree with you on the Surgeon General nominee, as he is very qualified and this country needs a public health professional to address/explain the many public health issues of the day: Ebola, flu season, and yes, even gun violence if he so chooses.

It was worth a shot. Thanks for the facts.

I think there’s an underlying point that’s valid, however. Even in light of the statistical carnage, there’s a lot of human deaths based on a claimed right in the Second Amendment. I consider the Constitution a document for our nobler spirit. Very much agree with you. Thanks again.
