Discussion: Senate Dems Lament FBI's Kavanaugh Report As 'Incomplete' And 'Limited'

From CNN, re: Susan Collins:

She did not indicate how she would vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation but said of the FBI report “it appears to be a very thorough investigation.”

Welp, there you have it folks. Kav would appear to be in.

Collins won’t vote Yes if Murkowski doesn’t. And Manchin can be whipped to vote No.

Some Dem should be willing to take the heat and publicly disclose what they are trying to keep under wraps.

This I know is too much to ask of any one person but that is how you stop a jaggernaut - by willing to stake all you got .

Otherwise the assholes will continue to prevail and go their despicable merry ways.

I think I’m going to be sick (or angry). Or sick AND angry.

The turdle can keep the vote open for weeks to get the results he wants. If he has a couple holdouts he’ll keep turning the screws until he gets his votes.

That is pretty weak sauce. She knows of “several” people who weren’t interviewed?? NBC reported there were 40 people (!) who wanted to speak with the FBI but were refused. I sure hope the Democrats step up the rhetoric.

Here’s a good article on the topic by Greg Sargent. https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2018/10/04/heres-a-list-of-people-the-fbi-did-not-interview-okay-with-this-flake-and-collins/?utm_term=.7a7faa6f6ad3

Surprise! Donald lied…
He is so determined to have another sexual predator on the SC - wonder why?
The more the merrier.
If Brett gets on the Court, every decision he makes will be based on his lies and temperature tantrum that he will get his revenge.
Donald just destroys everything - now the Supreme Court - it will be worthless.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, says the most notable part of report into sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh “is what’s not in it.”

The California Democrat says the report made available to senators on Thursday is “very limited” and she says “it looks to be a product of an incomplete investigation.”

There’s also the matter of the 1700 law professors who signed onto a statement saying Kav is unfit. It’s to be presented to the Senate today.

There is 9ne copy only of the report and it is in a room it cannot leave. There are 100 senators. How can they all read this report in time to consider it prior to McConnell’rushed vote tomorrow? If each senator got the report for 10 minutes it would take 16.6 hpurs for them all to read it. Assuming they all care to. … 45 senators could care less if Kavanaugh has a drinking problem, is a serial liar, or assaulted women for shits n grins as a “rite of passage”. They’re gonna vote the way Mitch tells 'em to and that’s it.
This looks like a serious breakdown in the Senate.
And while all this Kavanaugh crap is going on the House has been busy passing a $3:2 Trillion (over 10 yrs) tax cut for the wealthy and for businesses. Kiss Medicare and Social Security goodbye if the Senate passes this bill.

I think Senators Harris and Booker could come out swinging.

I’m feeling ill.

This ought to be the end of regular order until after the investigation, with the Dems walking out and stating over and over again that they are blocking the elevation of a man patently unfit to be a lifetime Supreme Court justice. They already have the backing of law professors, the churches, countless women, independents, and plenty of others willing to revisit the issue as soon as possible.

This could be another generation-defining moment for the GOP.

The disgracefully weak critism of this so called FBI investigation by Feinstein and Schumer shows whats wrong with the leadership of the Democratic Party.

The “investigation” was over yesterday

There you go! You’re today’s designated Quisling. It’s the republicans who’ve bought this crisis on us and they are the majority in the Senate. “Weak” criticism or out loud, over the top criticism is not going to change the mind of any R determined to put this pathetic drunk and sex assaulter on SCOTUS.

The Rs on the Judiciary Committee will also ignore the opinion of 1700 law professors who say Kav is unfit. But let’s have grandstanding and showboating by members of the Democratic Party. That’ll save the day.

Absolutely. They composition of the court will change the direction and fabric of this nation for a generation. if not more.

If the Democrats win the House which is being predicted more and more often and with more certainty, we could very well see a bill of impeachment brought against Kav by the House Judiciary Committee whose chair would likely be Jerry Nadler of NY. It’ll be a fight and it won’t be pretty but we do have the means to respond to an unfit sex assaulting drunkard being given a life time job, and we can already predict who’d line up to testify against him. Yes, I know, it’d take 2/3 of the Senate to convict, but the heat of an impeachment fight might be a tipping point in what he assumed would be a stroll through the park

@ignoreland

A lawyer friend of mine once told me (after I was being critical of him for not pursuing a particular issue in a case) that “you have to pick your battles.” The same applies for the Democrats if they capture the house. Not to mention I’m sure Trump will keep them very busy on other things and this will slowly fade away. This is a tough loss. It feels like the 2016 election. My concern now is that this depresses Democratic turnout. Democrats seem to always find a reason to stay home, whereas republicans will crawl through broken glass and flames to vote every single time.
