Discussion: Senate Dems Block GOP Late-Term Abortion Ban

Discussion for article #240852

Fucking AP…

It was the second time Senate Democrats have blocked GOP abortion-related legislation since this summer’s release of videos showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing their harvesting of fetal tissue for research.

No where in this article are those videos mentioned as purposely misleading, edited or an exercise in entrapment by a bunch of losers attempting to make PP an issue for rightwing political motives. The article merely states this as fact with no qualifiers. Truly misleading bullshit.

Thank you Senate Dems. Now can Repubs please go back to jobs jobs jobs being a lasered focus or was that only during election season…?

Who saw that coming? Besides everyone except Senator McConnell?

McConnell is not an ideologue on abortion. He’s an old-style big business Republican. I’m pretty darn sure he’s delighted this thing got shut down, so that he can go back to crafting big tax breaks for his campaign donors.

I fully intend to thank my (very safe) Democratic senators. I truly hope a lot of people who also totally approve of the vote do likewise. A lot of women’s future lives are riding on the outcome of this ghastly political theater.

Thanks to Fiorina’s ‘advocacy’, that part of the story is now irrelevant.

Well to be fair, they ARE “discussing their harvesting of fetal tissue for research”.
What was edited was to make it SEEM that they were PROFITING from this, and they don’t. Never have, never will.
So, by the mealy-mouthed “standards” of the MSM, it was “truthiness”.

Once again, the Teabaggers solution to everything is blackmail.

As I understood it, “the harvesting of fetal tissue” was an issue brought up repeatedly by the interviewer (not the interviewee). The person being interviewed was reluctant to discuss it due to concerns it would be taken out of context. In fact, that is exactly what happened. The entire purpose of asking over and over again by O’Keefe’s ringers was to interject the idea of PP profiting off this, then editing the film in a way to make it appear this was factual, when obviously it is not.

I wonder if any of the PP officials “caught” (entrapped) ever started to wonder who the hell they were talking to or wondered if they were being played. I’m sure they’ve had some woodshed moments together since then. Fortress PP - sigh, i guess that’s the way it’s gotta be, with people around who are willing to commit fraud (form fake companies, get fake IDs; what else?) just in order to frame them.

After what happened to ACORN, and with conservatives ever-angling for a way to do damage to PP, I’m surprised they didn’t have some woodshed time long ago.

Late-term abortions are generally done for health reasons. Why ban life-saving procedures, Repubs?

On Sunday school principles. Why do you ask?

Yeah. You’d think. Unfortunately they actually have actual work to do - a full agenda of women patients to take care of, unlike freaks like David Daleiden.

Excellent point. The article should have read “purportedly discussing”, since we now know that not only were the videos spliced and re-spliced to make the conversation appear to be what it is not, we now know that the author of the video is now pleading the 5th in court proceedings, which have already demonstrated he broke the law in creating the video, essentially committing fraud in a dishonest and distorted attempt to smear the reputation of Planned Parenthood.

Of course, this doesn’t matter to the religious zealots, who only interpret reality through their own distorted lens and like the Benghazi/email zealots are only eager to embrace any distortion, if it suits their political agenda.

The Fiorina remarks in the second “debate” claiming there were scenes that were in the videos but that even the author of the videos insists were not there only makes one wonder, if she saw previous edits of the videos that did not make the final cut. If so, there is prima facie evidence that Fiorina herself or her campaign may well be involved in the creation of these videos. Otherwise, how could she have known about these scenes that were not in the publicly released videos?

Republicans are known to repeatedly lie to the public, so this shouldn’t be unexpected. Nonetheless, this one is a real whopper.

No. Next question.

DUH.
I’m not arguing your points. I am just stating that as an exercise in basic English, the statement is correct.
