Discussion for article #245548
Reid said “100,000 people in Flint, Michigan have been poisoned, and Republicans do nothing” to help them. “Nine thousand little children … have been poisoned. Still, Senate Republicans refuse to help.”
I wonder what the Rethuglican response would be if it were 100,000 millionaires and 9,000 little billionaires that were affected?
I suspect they would be climbing all over each other to pass the bill while standing atop the Capitol rotunda claiming it was the most important issue facing the country. Moreover, the aid package would likely be $1,000,000,000 with a like amount of tax credits to offset those poor citizens suffering.
I have mixed feelings about this, because on the one hand the citizens of Flint desperately need help, but on the other hand it should really be entirely the republican population of Michigan (starting with the legislature) who foots the bill.
“We want to get this solved,”
Some of you do. Others consider this entire incident a trial balloon method for how to punish, destroy and force out minority communities from their states.
“Michigan water tastes like cherry wine,
Mississippi water tastes like turpentine.”
Those were the days, my friends.
If I were really that cynical I might believe you.

Okay, now I’m that cynical. The whole thing reeks of the very thing you described.
Teaxans not so keen on helping others ---------Just like Je$u$.
Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the second-ranking Republican, said it was premature to “write a multi-hundred million-dollar blank check” for Flint when state officials have not fully assessed their needs.
Of course, a multi-agency review spanning the course of several years will have to determine if Flint residents are actually at risk of lead poisoning. It could be a hoax, like climate change. The science departments at Oral Roberts and Liberty University will get right on this.

Certainly. I mean , what’s the rush here? If every other agency responsible for this fiasco gets to obfuscate, delay, mislead, Congress should have its opportunity. Not like actual lives matter.
i hate this shit. pass the energy bill. have a separate bill to help flint. tying unrelated crap together is a big problem trying to get anything done in congress. if the repugs want to shaft flint it will be right there for everybody to see.
And now it is, under today’s action. Under your “maybe someday we’ll talk about your problem” plan, no one would ever know the depths of GOP hypocrisy and antipathy.
the process sucks. getting shit done on a bipartisan basis is tough enough. the energy bill is important too. there is bipartisan support for it. PASS IT. flint needs help. if the pugs won’t help, go after them. media blitz.
“We want to get this solved,”
no they don’t. they couldn’t care less.
flint river water should be delivered daily to the senate until funding is provided.
