Discussion: Senate Democrats Threaten To Block Major House Deal On Medicare

Discussion for article #234500

“…two years is not a genuine commitment…”

Correct. Two years is not crafting an effective government program. Rather it’s the deliberate creation of a political football.

This is how Republicans doubly waste taxpayer dollars. First, they cut programs off at the knees, so they can’t develop any effectiveness. Then they waste everybody’s time doing nothing but running their mouths about it.

How long and how many band aids for the pimple on the ass of the problem will we endure before the pols come to their senses and pass a universal single payer health care plan?

For as long as there is big money in politics, most likely.

Republicans find the money to increase defense budget off healthcare for children. No surprise here.

I think the Senate Democrats are allowing the perfect to become the enemy of the good.

I think Dems should hang together and make the Rethugs tell the American public why children should only get a 2 year deal.

2 years = the GOP hoping they can get the WH in 2016 and then quietly let SCHIP die rather than having to actually enact legislation to get rid of it that early.

Its called leverage and Boener’s is deteriorating as Pelosi and the Dems quit falling for the government by crisis headfake.
Yes, there will be give and take, compromise, that is and was always how to get things done but there is no need to allow the Republicans to chip away at the great programs that we have in order to finance more wars and please the fat cats.
Boener is not in the position to allow this problem to become worse, he must negotiate and that is why he is.

That, or ensuring that SCHIP will always be there as a hostage to release in exchange for one more cut in something else.

And let me take the opportunity to say, because he doesn’t show up much around here, that I love Chris Murphy.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said a fix for children’s health insurance should be done for the same length as a fix for Medicare physician payments, which are poised for a steep 21 percent cut on April 1 under the existing “Sustainable Growth Rate” formula.

The GOTP does not consider children as important as doctors or zygotes.
