@marby I stopped watching MSNBC the day after the election. 43 minutes of hyper amped up news coverage bemoaning and simultaneously obsessing over the orange thing is not what I need. I even skip over most of the MSM news I normally follow for nearly the same reason. Pretty soon I’ll just be posting babble because I’ll be that uninformed.
I think this is an extremely important fight for the Democrats. However, I am not so hopeful they will prevail. When Senator Markey from MA was interviewed on MBNBC today, he read some of this nominee’s quotes as examples of why he must be opposed. Even Thomas Roberts (part of the MSNBC liberal media, right?) felt the need to jump in and say “Well, if you read the entire article, Pruitt is more of a climate change skeptic than a climate-change denier.” I really need to stop watching cable TV because the constant reminders that they gave us Donald Trump are making me ill.

Exactly. It’s 2016 and reporters are still allowing public officials to say climate science “isn’t settled” or “there isn’t consensus” about the role of mankind. Straight out of the tobacco playbook and it’s tolerated more so now than then.

The Democrats can’t stop any nomination, even ones as idiotic as this one. What they can do is make sure it’s clear the people that are being installed are incompetent, and out of line with the mainstream. That meals lots of foot dragging, getting statements from the military about climate change, getting real science, the whole nine yards. And, it means getting the press to cover this the way it should be covered, on a factual basis.
The Democrats can’t do this to every nomination, though almost all definitely need it, but on a few key ones they need to highlight that the Republicans are installing people who want to ruin the nation, not fix it. If they stand firm, then when the wheels come off they can point out why the wheels came off, and that they stood against it the entire way.
I haven’t watched any cable news, save for an hour while the OSU attacker situation was going on, since the election. I used to watch hours and hours a day, and I just can’t bring myself to do it. I still record Hardball and Am Joy, but I just wind up deleting the each episode without watching. I have to say that I really haven’t missed it. Instead of stressing myself out while I make dinner, I now watch episodes of Law & Order, and that makes me happy.

Minority president elect trump wants all these agencies/departments, EPA, Education, HUD, HHS to fail. That is why he is appointing the worst possible people to run them. Pruitt has sued the EPA multiple times and does not believe in climate science, DeVos has been against public education forever, Carson is not capable of running any agency according to his chief of staff ,and Price has declared his intentions to get rid of the ACA, ban abortions and limit women from obtaining contraceptives. None of these people should be acceptable. Write letters. Resist.

This new Congress will kill the EPA, the Dept. of Education, the Dept. of the Interior, the VA, the FCC, the FDA, the CFPB, Medicare, Social Security, Minimum Wage, Unemployment Insurance, and just about every other progressive idea of government. You can kiss them GOODBYE.
Trump has insurmountable support in the Congress for ANYTHING he wants to do. The only way they will oppose him is if he is not CRUEL ENOUGH in his policies.

Is it not a bit odd and ironic to nominate a person to head an agency that same person is suing? Leave alone the other ironic factors.
I would expect the committee concerned with ummm… science and climate stuff?
