Discussion for article #229135
The mystery is why the Dems haven’t moved more quickly. The GOP would have.
Are the senate democrats that dumb to think all of sudden now they can get their nominees pushed thought without republican obstruction. Democrats should have been pushing all along. Now all republicans have to do is wait out the clock.
The only answer I got is their democrats
Judges, judges, judges. Republican conservative Chief Justice John Roberts has pleaded with the senate to get some more judges confirmed. That’s all the political cover Dems need.
Let’s get some qualified judges confirmed in bulk – binders full of judges – asap!
NO !!!
Phew, tough job today
going back to vacation, need rest before next big decision which will require phonecalls and repeating NO over and over again with a few threats just to make sure it’s NO.
Pictured are the three Wall street Democrats who are bullchitting progressive liberals, filibusters should have been gutted rather than allowing the gridlock that is our current congress, weak Democrats have allowed this to happen. Occupy failed the left just as the corporate back tea party has destroyed Americans faith in Government, Democracy will never recover.
The filibuster was eliminated for many nominations, so there is really no excuse not to vote on the ones that they can. And “little to do but hold votes” sounds like another pretty good reason, not to mention the chance to drive repubs batshit crazy.
And the GOP would harshly berate the Dems for not going along.
But he cautioned that doing so “will inflame Republicans and drive them absolutely batshit.”
Really, Norm? How would one tell?
This will backfire. When the Senate is taken by the GOP/Teatrolls in November, the very first thing they will be doing is looking for a way to manufacture excuses/justifications for killing the filibuster entirely so they can go hog fucking wild for the next 2 years. This hands it to them on a silver platter. Now, that’s not to say they wouldn’t be doing it anyway, but in the context we’ll be given now that the Dems are pretty close to failing across the board this election, doing this will fairly easily be painted by the GOP/Teatrolls and MSM as a massively vengeful power grab and big fuck you to the election results and the will of “we the people.” After all, only GOPer/Teatrolls are allowed to have mandates…and the MSM grants them to the GOP/Teatrolls no matter how or why they win. To be fair, it’s something we probably don’t have a choice doing, but what I said is so utterly fucking predictable that it’s only going to stoke my outrage more when the Dems are completely unprepared to wage a messaging war over it and prove inept at countering the GOP’s.
If McConnell orders the GOP senators to not show up, will they have a quorum?
I encourage the GOP to totally abolish the filibuster if they win.
Because 2016 ain’t that far away.
“But he cautioned that doing so “will inflame Republicans and drive them absolutely batshit.”” Too bad Reid still believes in the Good Old Boys Club. Were I in charge, I’d go 18 hours a day every day until every last nominee was confirmed or voted down by a majority.
“So, which Mitch McConnell would show up? That’s the real question.” What is wrong with our Senior Leadership Aides that they are even asking this question? I am neither senior nor leadership nor aide and I can tell you exactly “which” one will show up. For the love of god, can’t anyone play this game?
Comity and Collegiality went out the window with McConnell’s Master Plan in 2008.
What is it going to take for Harry Reid to say FUCK THIS SHIT and start being the dictator they all think he is?
I seriously cannot understand why our party cannot elect nasty, savage pit bulls that understand they are in power to DO SOMETHING, and are not afraid to use that power.
I’m going to keep a positive thought that the Dems can hold onto the Senate. What I’m hoping for and geez I know this is a long shot… PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE begin acting like grown ups and become proactive rather than reactionary. There really is a payoff, I promise.
Its no mystery. You wait until after the election because why put it on the table for any campaign? Either party would do exactly the same thing, given the circumstances.
Which is why they won’t. All such talk from the GOP was nothing more than bluster.
In fact, if McConnell were smart he would move to reinstall the rules that Reid changed ASAP. They will be the minority after 2016, the only question will be how small of one.
The nobelist motive is to drive republicans batshit crazy.
