The election was over 5 weeks ago! The Senate Democrats are just now handling judicial appointments?
More and more I begin to suspect that the job we elect our elected officials to do has become simply impossible.
That or we’ve begun to elect idiots by the basketful.
We have a solution: Captain Milque toast to the rescue. Send the republicans a sternly worded,
stinging riposte that will surely have the desired effect. Give 'em heck harry. If anyone wants to read
world history, it is full of small groups overpowering and subverting weak democracies and substituting
totalitarian regimes in their place. I won’t use the same tired old nazi crap as the republicans.
You should be getting the idea by now.
“The other concern I have here now is the nominations that are going to get through that otherwise wouldn’t,” said Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D."
Think about what this senator is saying. That’s a pretty chilling admission of how the Republicans see themselves once they’re in control, and what their intentions are.
Until now I thought they’d be too embarrassed to obstruct a nominee for Justice or Defense because of optics, and because they’d want to show that they can govern and not just say no.
Maybe I was wrong.
There’s an old saw about hoping for the best and planning for the worst and preparing to be surprised. They’ve been waiting to be in control for several years, and they’re going to make the best of it even if they appear like thugs and even if it hurts moderate candidates in 2016, such as Jebbie.
You’re glib and cute and compose a heck of sentence, but you are so very wrong about Red’s effectiveness and are programmed to think of him as a milquetoast But here’s what happened in the weekend session and under this “weakling’s” leadership. It was masterful.
Mr. Reid was able to kick off votes on nearly two dozen nominations, pushing through more of Mr. Obama’s nominees, including several contentious ones, than Senate Democrats had originally hoped for — nominees who would be more difficult to push through when Republicans take control of the Senate in January.
The list of nominations included Antony J. Blinken as deputy secretary of state, the department’s No. 2 post; Carolyn W. Colvin to lead the Social Security Administration; Dr. Vivek H. Murthy as surgeon general; and Sarah R. Saldaña to head Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Senate will also vote on more than a dozen judicial and other nominees.
Democrats: if you won’t work for the people, I really don’t give a good goddamn if you work at all.
Without advocates for the people, this country is on borrowed time. And as of now we have none, thanks to electing Blew Dog Republicrats because we delude ourselves into thinking that’s the only way to win, coupled with a total failure of leadership to enforce strict discipline and alignment on key issues among those we’ve elected.
So I’m not about to agonize over whether the collapse will be in X years if a Republican destroys it or X+Y years if we leave the destruction to a Democrat, and I’m not rewarding any of these jokers for mere words like last time. Either you deliver concrete results or I’m done with you. We’ve had excuses since we rewarded Pelosi taking impeachment off the table with a bicameral supermajority AND the White House, when you pathetic excuse-riddled fucks STILL couldn’t get anything done.
The Democratic party is a mirror reflection of our pathetic lack of principles as an electorate. It’s a disaster, and it’ll be only getting worse. Next up, Clinton and Schumer. Not for me. I’m done with you, I don’t care if Satan gets elected.
Good luck getting your banking stooge into the Treasury…I really don’t give a shit any more. Rip the fucking guts out of Social Security and Medicare in your “Grand Bargain,” Obama. Your buddies Jamie Dimon and Lloyd Blankfein will gladly give you advice as their way of saying thanks for keeping them out of prison.
Fucking dirty rotten Third Way Clintonista corporate toe sucking sonsofbitches.
It’s about time for Democrats to act like it.
Warren’s right, Cromnibus bill must go down.
We’re sick of giving handouts especially to make the wealthier than us even wealthier still on our backs.
Plan A has failed, plan B has failed, so we will rush to C. The time should be used to strip the bill down to it sole purpose then to trim the fat out of what is left. But, we will get to the next vote with this same crammed full Cromnibus in all it’s infamy.
Of the two evils, a shutdown of government and this wholesale giveaway, the shutdown is by far preferable. Apparently, 25 billion dollars didn’t even ding us when Ted Cruz wasted it on his last shutdown, so we have nothing to fear with him doing it again.
Giving Wall Street back unfettered powers OTOH, has world wrecking potential, just ask the rest of the world or approximately 99% of America.
People get hurt either way. The CRomnibus method is just more thorough in distributing pain.
Concur.
By the way…
I N WHAT G A L A X Y is Ted Cruz considered a “potential candidate for President” in 2016???
La galaxia de Tejas (with apologies to Spanish speakers everywhere).
Sorry, hon, I think you’re glib and cute yourself, but I’ve studied history all the way back to the history
of Sumeria and I think of myself as someone who tries to point out the real danger of history repeating
itself once again ad nauseam. You’re welcome to your opinions but I’ll stand by mine, thank you.
Is it just me, or does Reid look like Batboy in this photo?
