So … the torture was mismanaged? I’m stuck.

Sort of misses the point entirely doesn’t it. Even if the torture was properly managed and a raging success, it was still torture and that is a war crime and a crime against humanity.

The whole group here is attempting to skate around the fact that a report isn’t worth beans. They have to talk and proceed with prosecutions or they are just condoning torture that they have known about for a long time anyways.
Now, they are mismanaging the investigation and the information that is coming from it and intentionally I’ll say.

Well managed torture means not having been found out?

I imagine that every torture survivor spawned 100 extremists with hate for America their common thread.

Thanks Dick’n’dubya!

agreed…misses the point, intentionally, by a mile. a checkbook gets mismanaged, not war crimes. more to the point, it wasn’t mismanaged. the people who were managing the torture were following orders. the management issue is a red herring. the real issue: who ordered the managers to manage the torture. hopefully someone somewhere levels an ICC case against Bush et al since we get no justice here in the states when it comes to our war criminals.

serious missteps in the management and operation

…then everyone shared a good laugh before shaking fine leather-gloved hands and departing in dark limos with fond wishes for the new year…

If it is a “Torture Program” then it is an “Illegal Program”. Stop the investigation and proceed with the arrests, charges and imprisonment.

That’s how it works. Follow the law that all Americans are bound by and there is no ambivalence. What part of torture isn’t being understood here?

Easy out to blame middle management. Nameless middle management.

It’s never going to work out unless they all turn around and point there finger and name the culprits who promoted, ordered, directed, pressured and demanded that torture was to be used regardless of anything else.
It’s a short list and we know who they are as they do. Time to step up and do the right thing for the countries sake and let the chips fall where they may. Just a few Americans, especially one, would do the time rightly deserved.

Didn’t the NAZIS use that same defense in the Nuremberg trials??

“Mismanage” isn’t the word I would use to describe what happened.

NO. "Nazis were “following orders.”

First step-Deny everything

Second Step-Say it was a small one time mistake and nothing to see here.

Third Step-Redefine the word torture to try to confuse and deflect criticism.

Fourth Step-Claim that the program was necessary to save lives and “keep us safe”.

Fifth Step-Agree that it might have been torture, but it was only a little bit to a few bad people.

Sixth Step-Agree that it was bad and useless and a waste of money, but it’s all fixed now and will never happen again. Prosecute no one for horrible war crimes.

Rinse and repeat.

yeah. my dog and i agree that shit stinks. big whoop

How about this idea? The only way to win at the torture game is not to play.

Well then, let’s start from the bottom. We could have the cesspit cleared out by 2016. The whole freaking thing was an atrocity. Sorry, it was a mistake. Just doesn’t cut it. Besides, it would fit right in with another scummy election. Jebbie is already channeling Lee Atwater.

Oh, I forgot. There are three branches above the law.
