It’s good that she is not supporting Reid. Who is she supporting? We need someone to step up that is credible. Also, we need a counterpart in the House to replace Pelosi.

“This is about perception, it’s not about reality.”

I really hate this usage of the word “perception”. Imagination is not “perception”.

Without bothering to defend Reid, there is an issue here of whether McCaskill is endorsing the notion that we should let the party make important decisions based on what the noise machine can create as a non-reality based “perception.”

Sounds like a sure recipe for getting pushed around.

Exactly.

What is she trying to say here? That it is not about actually changing things, but just about being perceived to be changing things? That there isn’t actually a need to change anything, but because there is a perception among the American people that there is such a need, we should change things just to play to that perception?

edit: Also why is it that not just doing what is the most immediately politically expedient by playing to peoples perceptions and instead responding in a reasoned fact based manner to actual reality doesn’t seem to be an option?

supposedly reid is offering warren a leadership position – where she’s the public face of the democratic party messaging. (i’m sure no policy changes; they just want to co opt her popularity…)

I’m not sure how these things work, by that I mean I’m not sure what the requirements are to be the minority leader. But I agree that Harry needs to go and in his place I would like to see Warren as his replacement. TIME FOR CHANGE, in the Democrat leadership. I’d like to see Nancy Pelosi go as well. The Democrats need people who will FIGHT back. People who will speak LOUD and clear. I’m tired of mousy and timid leaders.

dems do need a new leader, but not for perception, rather for someone with a spine and a clear voice.

Another Southern “democrat” proves why we should just kick the Confederacy out. Let the so-called “democrats” live under the crazies they have kowtowed to for the past 300 years. Fuck’m.

You obviously have a malfunctioning satire meter.

And you need to read up on Poe’s Law.

Why Doesn’t Claire ask Mitch who he thinks it should be? That would send a message about perception.

I always found her hideous and the cements my opinion of her. I’m not a fan of Harry Reid but she is just simply a joke

I first read the headline as indicating that McCaskill was running for the post, and was ready to blow a gasket.

Nothing wrong with some new faces, as long as they don’t bring the term “concilatory” to mind.

Remember when we were rooting for this conniving woman to beat, whats his name, oh, Mr. Akin. Keep that in mind.

Can you provide us with the name of any politician that isn’t conniving, or do you just save that derision for women pols?

Are you saying you don’t think Nancy Pelosi is a fighter and that she does not speak loud and clear?

I beg to differ.
