I have always liked her & found that you know where she stands on most issues.

If Akin was still around, he’d probably say that women have a way of shutting that down.

Bless you, Senator. Go home, be with your family, get through this, and come back strong.

Senator McCaskill, my very best to you. I hope you recover with flying colors. For pain, I hope you have access to some real good weed.

I know it isn’t a very urgent matter, but why hasn’t the Senate made it easier for a member who must be away for medical, death or family emergency situations to be able to vote on bills during the time they must be away from the Senate Chambers? I’m not looking for something that is vague and can be taken advantage of – just something that addresses very urgent situations such as this.

What a good idea! I haven’t really thought of this but it can be done in a focused way that doesn’t simply make it easy to just not show up.

It only makes sense – and you’re right, it can (and should) be done. I’d like to know why not, if there really are good reasons why it hasn’t been done.

All my best to Sen McCaskill, she will beat this. And, by the way – #$%^ cancer.

Fuck cancer. I have such raging, out of control, blind hate for that disease.

And all my love to Senator McCaskill. I may not always agree with her, but I damn sure respect her. She was one of the first out of the gate to strongly support then Senator Obama’s bid for the presidency and she did so enthusiastically. I truly hope she beats cancer and sends it back to the bowels of hell where it belongs.

Having experienced that scare myself a year ago, but thank science for early detection, I cannot stress enough to women to get your yearly breast exams and mammogram. Thank you President Obama for the ACA which guarantees all women who are not fortunate enough to have health insurance, to get a once a year well woman visit without cost. And for 1 in 2 women, it is a matter of when we will be diagnosed with this insidious disease.

Hang in there sister. I was diagnosed with breast cancer about a year and a half ago. After surgery and a round of radiation, so far I’ve so come back with a clean bill of health in all my follow up visits. You can beat this!

Unless it’s Stage Four cancer (dog forbid) I don’t believe medical MJ is available. Unless you’re talkin’ street weed, then okay!

Senators have always had to show up in person to vote. It probably goes back to the Founders who didn’t imagine a country as big as it’s become. We can’t expect the Rs who control things to take up the issue of absentee votes.

Be strong, Claire. You have faced worse…namely Todd Akin…and won. Take care of yourself now. We are praying for you. We will be working for your re-election.

As someone who just recently experienced that breast cancer scare that turned out to be a benign cyst, and someone who has survived colon cancer, I can relate. My heart is with you. That it was detected early is great. Get good treatment, good doctors and always expect the best outcome. One can only imagine how many cancers will go undetected with the closing of Planned Parenthood Clinics by Republican Governors. Keep fighting for women’s rights.

Good luck to her, my aunt had breast cancer which unfortunately despite aggressive treatment spread to her lymph nodes. I wish her all the best… cancer is a terrible disease.

Here’s wishing Sen McCaskill a speedy and complete recovery and cure. I’ve had my bout with cancer (not breast) and I can speak to the scariness of such a diagnosis. But these days it isn’t a death sentence.
