Nobody who says this sort of thing would ever imagine going to a government office and being told, “Sorry, you’re a Christian? It’s against my religious beliefs to issue you a building permit.” Or a marriage license. Or a driver’s license. Or whatever.

But for the accident of his birth, being the son and grandson of famous Admirals, this drooling moron would never have been heard from. Too bad his ejection seat worked.

As a private citizen, yes she is free to do so. However, as a civil servant who swore a godly oath to obey the Constitution, no she isn’t, Senator. It’s a flawed conscience, in deed, that doesn’t trouble her for breaking her oath.

Don’t want to violate your religious beliefs? Don’t marry a lesbian.
Don’t want to have your name on the marriage certificate? Resign your government job.

It’s really not a hard formula to understand.

Besides a civil government sanctioned marriage should have nothing to do with her religion.

Agreed. Had Sid McCrashcup been a real sailor he would’ve done us all a favor and gone down with his (air)ship.

My Dad used to say “We have the freedom of our opinion which means we have the Constitutionally protected right to be stupid.” Kim Davis has a right to her opinion. That does not mean it is right. She took an oath as an elected official to do her job. Now she is choosing to NOT do her job so she is breaking her oath. Consequently she should be removed from office. But she still can practice her religion and keep her opinions.

“Exercising the dictates of her conscience” would be resigning. What she did was grifting.

That would be the kind supposition.

OK, Palin creator, let’s say a clerk in Arizona’s religion opposes alcohol. Does that clerk have the right to deny a liquor license?

Check with Cindy before you answer. Your income depends on it.

Senator McCain, you–and the Davis person–cannot have it both ways. She either does that job, which is quite important to the day-to-day and long-term functioning of our society, or she doesn’t. The fence you’re attempting to straddle has many nails – be very careful.

Hell, I’m the clerk who handles voter registration in Rowan County, KY. For my religious reasons, I refuse to process Mrs. Davis (4X3)'s paperwork to change her political party. I don’t believe cu … I mean cows have the right to vote, amirite?

and sid mccrashcup – aka a real sailor – would never have been given multiple – let alone a second – opportunity to crash planes. iirc, mccain’s record was three.

Can a Navy pilot refuse to drop bombs if it violates his conscience?

Yeah. He and Bristol Palin have a lot in common.

But then she can’t keep her $80K a year and her spotlight of victimhood. She has her priorities!
