Discussion: Sen. Manchin To Military: Unlike Texas, West Virginia Is 'Not Afraid Of You'

Discussion for article #236042

We embrace you

And your negotiable currency at our roadside refreshment centers. Nothing caps a military exercise better than an ice cold Mountain Dew and a bag of Ranch-flavored Sun chips…

I can’t believe this is still a story.
Where are the leaders in the GOP? Why aren’t they being more forceful in knocking this crazy story down?
Where is military expert John Maverick McCain? There’s usually a camera that can’t escape him getting in front of. Is he speaking out about this?

Walnuts is doing what Walnuts does – waiting to see if carrying this banner provides any benefits to the carrier. Right now, it’s only earning huge, moist snorts of concern from everyone except from the Clive Bundys of the world.

The leaders in the GOP? That’s a big part of their overall problem right now…they don’t have any leaders. But given that at least 2 of their declared candidates for the presidency, and at least 1 more who is expected to declare, have all weighed in that these are valid concerns and merits investigation…I think its pretty easy to see where their faux leadership is on this.

Huh…where is Morning Joke by the way? I’m surprised we haven’t seen any articles about him lately…or one about him huffing and puffing some nonsense making excuses for these conspiracy theories…

I’m trilled by this. More paranoid GOPers, please. My only wish was that it was a year from now.

To borrow a line:

“We didn’t used to scare so easy.”

Me too. ‘Paranoid, incompetent kooks’ is the key to the White House.

It’s interesting that the people who are biggest about “supporting the troops” (although their main ideas of support are to throw money at them, start wars, NOT SERVE, and put magnets on their cars) are the ones who are acting like the Army is a nefarious evil force. I know they are saying that it’s all Obamas fault (that’s a new idea, huh?), but really…is it me, or does this seem extra weird?

…and while I don’t love this guy, he has the proper response to GOP fucktardery.

You don’t take it seriously. You don’t ignore it. You rub their faces into their ridiculous stupidity.

MUST CREDIT DRUDGE . . . MANCHIN CALLS FOR MILITARY OCCUPATION OF WEST VIRGINIA! . . . MUST CREDIT

I have to admit, he’s slid into the role of rightmost Democrat pain in the balls in the Senate just as expected, but he’s much less of a pain in the balls than Lieberman, Ben Nelson and Blanche Lincoln were.

Why Rubio or Carson (or Clinton and Bernie) are not screaming from the rooftop: “Anyone who believes this shit is not qualified to be President!”, is beyond me.

Has anyone asked the Mormon rake-stepper?

Campaign donations must be rolling in from this. This will remain a story as long as there is still money pouring in from the rubes. Once that dries up, the story will end.

A couple of days ago, ‘Ottnott’ posted the perfect official seal for the folks who worry about crap like this:

Because more than half of all Republican primary voters are both utterly credulous and clinically insane.

Seriously. That’s the reason. In the modern GOP, insane conspiracy theories are refuted only by painful silence.

These military exercises have been held in Texas since before I was a pup. Have dead relatives that spent time on maneuvers there before I was born. NOW it is a government take-over?

You have to remember that the current Republican constituency is a patchwork of a few sane, but greedy individuals, and a bunch of nut-case financial dupes, racists, homophobes, paranoids, religious scaliwags, gun-huggers, and gummint-haters. They need to hold this disparate group of wackos together and so need red meat for each on a very frequent basis. Stories like this appeal to a number of these factions, and so we will continue to get stories like this from who passes as mainstream Republicans these days.
