Discussion for article #226796
We’ve assumed the worst for some time, Senator Oil of Olay.
I can’t think of a time when Lindsey wasn’t banging the drum of war.
And yet the right wing ignorati in congress still insist on spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year to fight 20th century wars. I’m sure that the next trillion dollar stealth fighter will scare ISIS while they use terrorist tactics to attack us their way.
Except, perhaps, when he was banging McCain?
Seantor Lindsay Graham reacts to the news:
I can’t remember: is Miss Lindsay the Fear, Ignorance or Hatred pillar of the GOP? I’m guessing Fear, but not sure as he exhibits all of these characteristics depending on day of the week.
Scarlet O’Graham is having a civil war flashback. Instead of the Yankees, it’s “The ISIS is comin’! The ISIS is comin’! - Prissy, hide the silver!”
This man is ALWAYS in front of a camera fear mongering. The world is fearful enough I don’t think people want to be constantly hearing about how dangerous it is.
Why must he be on a Sunday show EVERY friggin week?
I know terrorist groups ARE dangerous and I know that it’s a matter of time before the U.S. is hit again. The U.S. will NEVER be 100% safe. No matter how the government tries (Democrat or Republican president) they can never prevent an attack. And I’m not being negative. It’s just FACT.
What would be real news is if Lindsay admonished us that it’s about time to assume the worst about the threat of climate change, or money in politics, or Republican obstruction, or the blowback from installing dictators who’ll play ball with our fossil fuel extraction industry.
If they were operating with impunity in, say, Saskatchewan, and were ten or fifteen times more powerful than they are now, then it would be fair to say they’re a “direct threat.” Until then, saying so is just more hand-wringing, pearl-clutching, and running in circles flapping your hands.
Maybe there’s someone with a better grasp of the situation than I but… wasn’t Sen. Graham complaining that the President wasn’t aiding the Syrian rebels a while back?.. and wouldn’t those rebels be the same people he’s claiming are big league terrorists now?
Am I missing something?
Lindsey Graham on a Sunday talk show that is just so out of character for that refined southern gentleman.
What keeps Miz Lindsay up worrying at night?
I think it’s time to understand a basic fact about ISIS. It is trying to creating a caliphate to lead the Islamic world in a war against modernity. For it to succeed, it must first rest control of the “holy land” from the House of Saudi (Saudi Arabia)- the home of Mecca and Medina. But the degree of hatred toward ISIS among the Muslims it wishes to assemble under its black flag is enormous and makes unification impossible. Â
Iran, Syria, Turkey, the Western world, Russia and Saudi Arabia all have common cause to crush these zealots. ISIS’ time is coming to an end whether Obama launches a new war, established a coalition and stays off the sand, or ignores the situation. The House of Saudi will not allow itself to be beheaded.
Concern Senator’s concern has been duly noted.
Once again.

Yes, things always work out so well for the US when we assume things.
Like Saddam’s possession on WMDs.
Back into Iraq, and now Syria.
Who needs GWB or stupid fucks like Graham? We have a whole slew of war-hungry Democrats. Get ready for Queen Hillary’s Bloody Reign.
I have the distinct impression he has a stack of press release forms in his office like mad libs, where there are only two blanks to fill in - Nation or Political Group and Type of Military Action. Everything else is the same each time.
John Kerry, Chuck Hagel, and Hillary are going to have to up step up their Warmonger game.
John Kerry, the US secretary of state, was even more forthright, saying bluntly that Isis “must be destroyed”. He said: “Make no mistake, we will continue to confront Isil wherever it tried to spread its despicable hatred. The world must know that the United States of America will never back down in the face of such evil.”
“Isil is as sophisticated and well funded as any group that we have seen. They’re beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess, they are tremendously well funded. Oh, this is beyond anything that we’ve seen, so we must prepare for everything,” Hagel said
lindsay, quick look under your bed, terrorists!!!
