Discussion: Sen. David Perdue: Blocking Clinton SCOTUS Noms Is 'Dereliction Of Duty'

It’s astonishing that Republicans make news when they say the most basic of truths. A Senator saying that blocking all nominees from a president is wrong should not be news. It should be Tuesday.

He’s not up for reelection for another 4 years, he can afford to cling to some shards of reality.

If a meaningless back-bencher like Perdue is throwing this out, you know Rethuglicans are Nugent-ing their pants. Can you say “Trial Balloon?”

He must have saw Trump’s Georgia numbers and it likely scared him.

He’s scared

Not everyone can get Johnny Isakson numbers and he’s doomed, if he draws Trump’s #'s when his re-election time comes up.

It’s called “Parting of the Ways.” It’s also called: 'I’m gonna save my ass at all cost."

Yep. And the next time he’s running will be a Presidential election year, which means higher Democratic turnout. As long as he can survive being primaried from the right, maintaining a semblance of being somewhat moderate is a smart political calculation in a state (Georgia) that is slowly moving towards the political center.

What does that mean, to Nugent one’s pants?

Let’s say the Senate stays R and they continue to block any SCOTUS nominee. The President has done her part. It’s up to the Senate to do their part. If they refuse, then is there any reason her nominee can’t take his/her seat on the Supreme Court anyway as a fait accompli? “I have informed the Senate of my nominee for the Supreme Court. As they have not acted in their constitutionally mandated role of “advise and consent” I am left with no option but to consider their silence as acceptance of the nominee.”

To get out of serving in Vietnam Nugent soiled himself repeatedly.

GD I hope we get a 50-50 senate at least. Saying they will block all noms before they even know who they are is so fucking ridiculous.

I looked up “Smarmy” in the dictionary.

Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution gives the President of the United States the power to "on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses or either of them.

OK. You guys want to go home? Ever?

Hmm. That would play very well with the public.

What else would one expect from a bunch of derelicts?

If the Senate stays R they don’t have to block the nominee. They can defeat any nominee in a floor vote so long as they follow the McCain commitment that the GOP “will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up.”

Blocking Clinton SCOTUS Noms Is ‘Dereliction Of Duty’

GOP: Thats what we have been doing for more than a decade. We will continue.
