Discussion for article #224458
Are you actually surprised by this?
Nice that he is “listening” but can he still hear? I wonder if all those blacks and other Democrats will still vote for him this fall? It would seem that if the Dems had a good candidate and got behind him they might be able to put ol Thaddeus out to pasture.
The Senator would concur with Senator Rand Paul who recently said, “I’m for more people voting, not less people voting.”
How could you possibly concur with such an egregious abuse of less vs. fewer???
From previous speech Thadeus would love to be back in the pasture.
Stole my thought,TOUCHE.
Meh. Nothing to be gained by putting yourself on record for “legislation” that has yet to be proposed.
I think it’s important for everybody to participate.
Translated : it’s important for everybody to participate when they are voting for me, but not when they are voting for someone else.
In other words, Mississippi African Americans, you’ve saved your state from the greater evil, but if you think you’ll get anything for voting for him in the general, you’re crazy.
Your cynicism may carry the day if and when Cochran is re-elected, at the same time, assuming he’s listening, people in and out of MS are weighing in on how supporting progressive causes not just in words but deeds is what he must do. Democrats crossed party lines for him and were clear that McDaniel was too repugnant, so this new constituency is giving him a chance. If future Rs ever want a Democrat’s vote again he has to act.
Once an unreconstructed bigot, always a racist. He is so old that he already forgot that black people saved his pusillanimous career for a few more months.
“…I think it’s important for everybody to participate…”
It’s apparently as radical a notion today as it was 200+ years ago when America was founded, and for all the same reasons. Unfortunately, the conservative movement can’t allow it.
No one thinks any GOP senator from the South is going to do jack squat for voting rights.
This man begs to differ from Rand and Thad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GBAsFwPglw
At least he hasn’t slammed the door shut on that issue. That alone is progress.
I have to say, I don’t get it. Terribly defeatist, IMO. Magnanimity is one thing - stupidity is another. I am beginning to think crossover is really hypover (I made it up.)
What exactly was the context when Paul said that? Was he supporting restoring the VRA or opposing it? Given the typical Republican doublespeak it could be either one.
here’s to the honorable(?) Jubilation T. Cornpone
This open primary idea should be illegal. No party has the right to meddle and tinker with another party.
A little bit of news for all the “journalists” out there. Nobody, other than other alleged “journalists”, thought that this primary would do anything to cause any sort of change in Cochran.
If you thought it, and you’re a regular person outside of Mississippi, you are probably someone who wasn’t paying attention because, let’s face it, it’s fucking Mississippi.
If you’re a journalist, and you’re actually trying to push ridiculous horseshit like this, you should apologize and then find another job you might be better at.
