Discussion for article #223758
Sen Cochran just gave the Dem candidate his first campaign add for the general electionâŚâEven Sen Cochran thinks McDaniel is âa dangerous extremistâ that will leave MISS short changed.â
Too little, too late. Cochran rolled over months ago.
You donât say. When did you discover this? Can we cut through the case and call him a breaking and entering domestic terrorist.
Dangerous extremist? Suck it up buttercup!
YeahâŚhe was never really committed to this race. There were even questions if he would even run. The way things have played out, he might as well have saved what little effort he has expended.
McDaniel getting indicted is the most probable path for victory for Cochran.
Yep. Easy-peasy. Vote Democrat.
It sounds as if McDaniel may not be able to count on a Cochran endorsement.
It would be a classic FU if he endorsed Childers though.
âŚif he did something thatâs a federal crime outside the state, maybe.
Iâd say Cochran should have actually tried and then retired, but the MS Governor is about as shitty as McDaniel, heâs just quieter about it.
Rarely has there been a campaign punctuated by more âfunny businessâ than that of Chris McDaniel â and âfunny businessâ here would mean four campaign workers getting arrested for the despicable chicanery of invading a dementia facility to illegally photograph Thad Cochranâs wife, and other McDaniel cohorts being caught red-handed in the absolute wrong place (the locked courthouse where the primary votes were kept) at the wrong time (2 in the morning after the voting had long been over).
AND YET the âgoodâ people of Mississippi still want to elect this miscreant criminal.
Clearly these people get exactly what they deserve.
In their defense he has an ÂŽ after his name and theyâre still really mad about the whole Civil Rights thing.
Thatâs a defense for some reason. Iâm not quire sure how itâs a defense, mind you.
The old line about only losing if he got caught in bed with a live by or a dead woman made by Louisianaâs Edwin Edwards (a Democrat whose running again after being off the political circuit with a bribery conviction) probably applies to Republicans running state wide in Mississippi.
But, but, the Federal Gummint is baaaad. Get yer Federal Gummint off my Federal funds
Something tells me this âextremistâ rhetoric is going to backfire on Cochran in the primary, while harming McDaniel in the general.
As always, well played Republicans! Radical, unrestrained individualism is such an effective political strategy.
I do not see were it matters. both are republican.
Well, in defense of the âgood people of Mississippi,â itâs only the Republicans who want to elect this miscreant criminal. Of course, the majority of the âgood people of Mississippiâ are Republicans, so you may ultimately have a good point.
I do not see were it matters. both are republican.
Well, to reiterate the obvious, a McDaniel victory in the primary gives Dems a genuine shot at this red, red seat!
In a state like Mississippi, how can you make that statement? Why will an electorate that elects a radical over the mainstream Republican (see: Brat vs. Cantor in Virginia) suddenly turn and vote for the Democrats in November? It seems more likely that they will suck it up and âreluctantlyâ vote their âonly real choice,â âthe lesser evil,â etc. just as Democrats do with the blue dogs that they pretend to despise so much.
