Stalin’s was reputed to say, after his son’s attempted suicide, “Hah! He couldn’t even shoot straight!”
Joe Stalin had an excuse of sorts: He was a murdering despot for whom this above “joke” would not have been surprising. Nor, for that matter, condemned (at least until he died).
What is fascinating to me (in a frightening way) is the degree to which zealotry can convert people into those just as rigid, unforgiving and cruel as Stalin. Because I am now under no assumptions that, just as Trump has unearthed a large swath of cruel racists, so Bernie Sanders has also revealed a significant number of nihilistic individuals who would be highly content with enabling a President Trump (by not voting for Hillary).
In addition, just as those on the Right blithely throw aside any accusations of wrecking the country with their regressive and racist practives, so these Bernistas in the Left would equally and calmly lay the entire blame for the election of President Trump on Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.
It is clear that, just as Reince Priebus and the RNC did not think through carefully the GOP Primary winner-take-all rules and their hand in Trump, neither did the DNC sit down with Sanders and get a feel for how he would conduct his campaign.
I had an exchange with a zealot on another thread and lost the argument. How? He said so.
Clinton isn’t the only candidate with a broad coalition (taking over the one that elected Obama).
Sanders has built and encouraged the rabid support of the coalition of the anarchists, Paulbots and ratfuckers.
Barbara Boxer did not deserve this vile disrespect and hostility. She has been such a strong liberal voice for so long.
The venom that Sanders is enabling (the kindest word I can utter right now) is dispicable.
SOME Sanders supporters are sounding more and more like repubs, acting like them and threatening to help those racist, homophobic, misogynistic, mammon worshiping, xenophobes destroy our republic. We are all threatened by these fools, just some communities more than others…
The DNC smearing Bernie, there was no violence, people were angry at the chairperson’s dishonesty. Barbara Boxer comes out in the middle of all this, and says she’s a Hillary supporter and got booed, lies and distortions are not a way to bring the party together. The threatening phone calls, are unacceptable. Lumping all Bernie supporters together is unacceptable Kama distorting what happened in Nevada is unacceptable. This is more Hillary smear tactics.
Boxer is a threat to everyone living in California.
I don’t think he genuinely expected the campaign to survive this long. It has, and it probably feels like victory is tantalizingly close, but deep down, he knows it’s still out of reach–and this must cause enormous frustration.
It doesn’t excuse his cavalier attitude, of course.
I think Bernie did a good job “smearing” himself.
And, for the record, Lange did a voice vote…WHICH WAS A PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE VOTE. Rules only suck when you don’t actually read them.

You have no facts, people were angry at last minute rule changes. I’m at Bernie supporter, and a Democrat not a stalinist. The only zealot is you.
Last minute rule changes that had been on the website since April and had been written by a committee consisting of equal numbers of Sanders and Clinton supporters.
I will give you this. The people were angry, and probably genuinely believed the rules had been changed on them.
But they hadn’t. They had been misled by the leaders of the Bernie campaign, especially through literature that was passed amongst supporters in the days leading up to the convention.
You are the first person who has ever called me a zealot. Most people describe me as someone who can goad others into saying idiotic things. I have been quite successful this past week.
